In a way I think I stand directly in the middle of the Mikkel Kessler debate. I can see why some people get annoyed at him being described as an already great and proven fighter yet I can also see why a lot of people get annoyed at those who say he has only beaten bums and is a nobody.

Basically, I think that in that weight range he could be a top top fighter. I am slightly annoyed that since stepping up and not getting it done against Joe he has gone to much much softer opponents that pose no threat to him. I think he is 27 at the moment and this should really be the point he starts to try to make it happen. I really hope he doesn't become one of those guys who just prefers to stay within his comfort zone and pad his record like say Mundine has done. He is much better than that and in my mind is definately p4p material, possibly top 5 in the future if he starts taking on the sort of guys he should be.

I think this view of Kessler is exactly the right one.

maybe beating guys like sartison and beyer are safer than stepping up and risking another loss.

Is it true someone true boxing ability is shown when they face real competition?? Eg Tyson, Judah, Hatton
You have asked the question countless times and been answered by the best posters Boxingscene can muster. Since you don't get it I suggest you just lay back and accept your ignorance.

Get a life.

However, since you ask, I believe most lists rated Kessler in the top 20 or so before he lost to Calzaghe because of the manner in which he cleaned up half the SMW division, winning two belts while doing so and defending against credible opposition. He won the WBA title against Siaca, defended against Mundine, then Lucas, then won the WBC title against Beyer and defended against Andrade. He outclassed all of them easily. Not a single one of these fighters was a bum, and if you think they are then I suggest you educate yourself about boxing and quickly come to the realisation that in order for there to be 'P4P guys', 'greats' and 'legends' there have to be a whole lot of other boxers who are not as good for these top boxers to beat. That's boxing.

Instead of coming back with some lame, hate filled reply, try taking a moment, thinking and realise that everything I've said to you is true. That way you might actually learn to enjoy the sport of boxing for its own sake, rather than, as far as I can see, deriving your only pleasure from it by the cheap thrill you appear to get from slating fighters you don't like and trying to annoy real boxing fans.
I'm impressed about you. I really am. Taking the time to reply Guled/flawless for the omphteenht time.

FYI Calzaghe was rated no. 8 by secondsout. Kessler was 9.

WOW, I am speechless. Mundine is a good fighter now and is credible opposition. How did Mundine go against Ottke. YEAH, that is what I thought. What else do you guys have in store? I will make a thread again asking if Mundine is a credible opposition and legitimate title holder

                    Jesus.****ing.Christ

Lets have a change Guled, instead of asking questions, lets have some answers from you.

What is your take on Mikkel Kessler? How do you rate him?

What do you think the standard of his opposition is? Do you think they are bums? If so, why?

Do you really need to make a Calzaghe/Kessler hate thread every single day?
