chavez is one of my all time favorites!!! He alone got me into boxing! My dad took me to every chavez fight as a boy. But i will not be a fan boy, nuthugger, or just plain moron like some people(cmonmang) and nut hug him. Chavez clearly lost that whitaker fight. I think the rematch didn't happen for a reason and that reason being chavez knew it would be the same fight.Comment

Quartey's punch output wasn't as high as it normally was in the fight, I think he rarely threw above 60 punches a round, he was consistently throwing about 50-55 punches a round if I remember correctly.Heres my opinion. I had Quartey up by 2 points going into round 12. Obvisouly with the 2 point swing b/c of the KD, I had it a dead heap at 114-114. Quartey did more then Oscar in the fight, I thought he fought with his heart on his sleeve, and if there was anyone who deserved to iwn that night it was Ike "Bazooka" Quartey. DLH looked tghe beaten fighter, he was hit with hard crisp right hands all night. He was lets face it, beaten up. Now as to where Quartey got robbed. Ike Quartey in my opinion, robbed himself point blank. The guy was a ****ing stud in the ring who has possessed one of the best jabs the sport had ever seen and a huge right hand to go along with it during his tenure in the WW division. Quartey simply robbed himself b/c of inactivity, and too much of it. He hadn't fought for a year and a half previous to this fight. And yes ODLH had postened the fight I believe 2-3 months, but even still a World Class fighter cannot simply fight once in a full year and expect to come back crisp and in World Class condition. If you watch the last round of this fight, after the KD, Ike is laying on the ropes, DEAD tired just throwing these looping slow shots back at DLH for about 40 secs, while DLH tries to stop him right then and there. He faded fast in the later rounds, where his punch output went drastically down from I think 70 punches a round early, firing off like 30 jabs in certain rounds, to 40-50 punches in the championship rounds. That being said, his 40-50 punches were still at time doing more damage then DLH's point blank.
Quartey then took another year off in his next fight against Fernando Vargas, and he looked very sluggish in this fight. Ike was always a high paced fighter, who threw a lot of punches and threwq them with dangerous intent. But in hjis 2 biggest fights of his career, he ROBBED himself of the ability to win thesed 2 fights hands down because of way to much inactivity..................
Long layoffs definitely affected Quartey.Comment

No doubt man, I love people who follow there fightes all the way up the ranks. Yeah I wish is woulda happened cuz I feel Sweet Pea was diminshed a GREAT win because of the robbery. But like u said, Chavez really must not have wanted anything to do with Whitaker again. Although I dont think Sweet Pea wanted anything else to do with anohter fight because of what a lot of people knew he had accomplished in the first fight, including himself.chavez is one my all time favorites!!! He alone got me into boxing! My dad took me to every chavez fight as a boy. But i will not be a fan boy, nuthugger, or just plain moron like some people(cmonmang) and nut hug him. How you score it....HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
Anyway I scored it 114-112 for Floyd. And Ive watched it time and time again. Very very close, but I think Mayweather did just enough to win it. lso he really just showed his class the 2nd fight really outlanding Castillo on way to a clear cut victory..Comment

Pre layoff Quartey had what it took to beat any fighter in the world. He absolutely DOMINATED Oba Carr. Throwing dam n near 40 jabs a round and landing over 50% of his power shots I believe. This was the Quartey that would throw 70 or more punches a round and 30-40 of them would be jabs. Very hard to beat a fighter whos commiting to the jab this prolifically. He would keep his opponents at bay all night and always seemingly in range for the straight right hand bomb.Comment
