Duke makes a good point. Your never wrong even when your purely talking from opinion. Your difficult to converse with, un compromising and argumentative. When you don't agree with someone you do make out there complete idiots just for not sharing the same opinion as you. When you do agree with someone, your tone is still patronising like you some kind of leader in the correct knowledge and opinions to have.
I mean, I could sit here and tell you that you're an overly biased Calzaghe nuthugger. But you also happen to know your ****, so I'll take a few lumps from you and you'll get some in return.Comment

So then prove me wrong. I don't back down from conversation and I'm here. Attack my viewpoints, not me.

You know your stuff too, more than me on wider boxing and history IMDAZED I'm quite happy to admit. But I've followed this entire topic and it just seems you read posts looking for things to challenge to try to bolster your opinion, and hit the reply button immediately.
I'll reply to some earlier, on some later posts on this thread if I feel I can add something. But I don't think I'd have said much different to what badge and duke would have said (some parts diff) but another saying some similar things can get in the way and lose value. Hitting reply is easy but not always in the best interests of making your case, the forums or others.Comment

There are a number that would be similar to a Chris Eubank. What about Terry Norris? He had a few good wins, but, he was also knocked out cold during his prime quite a few times also by only decent fighters. Jackson is understandable, but then McCallum handled Jackson rather easily as did McClellan. Didn't he also get knocked out by Brown? So, really, what great fighters did he beat and what did he do worthy of being in the HOF?
What about Bobby Chacon? He was a good fighter but much like Gatti in that he was beaten by most good fighters of his time and was just an exciting brawler who could take a hell of a lot of punishment! Was he worthy of the HOF? He was beaten by all the great fighters he faced in Arguello, Olivares, Boza Edwards etc.
What about Pipino Cuevas? Another good fighter but also never really beat anyone of note and was destroyed by Duran and Hearns.
What about Carlos Palomino? He had some good wins but were they as good as beating Michael Watson and Nigel Benn among others? You tell me.
What about Dwight Qawi? A few good wins but as many bad losses and I can think of many better fighters with better careers that could have gotten in.
Talking about Qawi and the HOF, what about his biggest win in Saad Muhamed (I don't know if that's spelt right). He is also in the HOF. Do you think he is deserving? Can you think of any fighters that are better? Was he that much better than Eubank and did he have that many better wins than Eubank? I would like to hear how his wins are so much better than Eubanks and why that would get him in.
Even the guys you mentioned have struggled to gain true credibility as fighters and some still do to this day from anywhere apart from their own countries. Pacquiao is huge because of his exciting style. Galaxy was never known outside his country. He is a terrible example and only boxers know of him. Lewis was known because he was a heavyweight in the 'Tyson' era. Fenech and Tszyu are arguably he best fighters Australia has ever had. Two! Wow! So unbiased! Even now you get people who don't recognise either Tszyu or Fenech as good fighters. Guess what? They're generally American.
It's obvious that there is always going to be home country favourites and that as the boxing mecca and where all the big fights are generated, of course the Americans are going to be seen as better and more favoured. If Locche was American, not only would he be hideously famous like Pep and Whitaker but everyone on this board would know who he is. The fact is though that hardly anyone does!
Edit: after re-reading my post, I realised that I had put a Mexican fighter in. Ignore the Cuevas bit.
Lewis was known because he fought in the Tyson era? What does that mean?
Sure you get people who don't recognize what Fenech and Tszyu did but those people generally aren't boxing fans either. There are people on this board who don't recognize what Roy Jones did either, and his resume takes a dump on those two. Guess what? They're usually not American.
Galaxy is a Hall of Famer and any hardcore fan knows him. We're not having a mainstream vs. fan debate - these people are Hall of Famers (Tszyu soon, anyway).
You can make an argument over Norris not deserving it - although he was a top 5-10 p4per for several years. But if you don't think he deserved to get in - or any other American for that matter - then how can you argue Eubank's case? Evening out one wrong with another?
Good post.Comment

1. Where in this thread did I mention benn?
2. Where did I say he and The Bank were greats?
3. Why is my opinion representative of all Britons? Do I not have my own opinion? or is your opinion that of America's?Comment

See I really wasn't expecting a reply like that, because I think I've rarely seen one, certainly not received one like it from you. Needless to say I respect that response.

But after time I've kinda sorted out those who know their **** from those who don't so while we may bump heads from time to time, it's all good cuz we're boxing fans here to discuss boxing. It wouldn't be the sweet science without that.
I gotta run and enjoy my Saturday but I'll be back cuz I'm sure Benny has a solid reply in the wings and I'm curious to see what he wrote.Comment
