lets get this right. lacy was never going to amount to half of rjj's legacy. who are we kidding here. kid always had skills. shame that those who hyped him were the ones to write him off, but i always saw holes. calzaghe's victory was impressive, but prime rjj is far better than both of them were, are, ever would have been, or ever will be. dont get it twisted broseph...

People forget that Lacy was no young man when he faced Joe, he was a late starter as a pro and with his style, not a man who would've lasted long in the boxing business anyway. He is 31 now, most fighters' skills start to detoriate at that age.

For Lacy, it was do or die against Calzaghe. But it was the shoulder injury that truly ruined his career.

Calzaghe ruined his chance at stardom, the shoulder injury ruined his chance at bouncing back from the loss.

Lacy never had any defense and relied on one punch power too much

                he was way overhyped

Lacy was the next big thing in American Boxing. I dont know if anyone was saying he was gonna be Roy Jones but he was touted for greatness. I wish some Yanks would acknowledge the fact that 99% of them said he'd blow away Calzaghe in a few rounds and go on to rule the division. Hell even some Brits said it!

I have no doubt in my mind that Lacy could've been a dominant champion at 168 had Calzaghe already moved up or retired. He just chose the wrong fight against the wrong guy at the wrong time.

Hindsight is a wondeful thing. He was America's next big hope. Kinda like Pavlik now.

Which is why it would be a grave mistake for Pavlik to go near Calzaghe.
