My GOD I hope they do that. That's the type of **** you dream about. Defending and/or winning belts in two divisions in one fight?

The main problem with picking Roy is that there is no logical reason to do so. Whether one believes him to be shot or not, no-one can reasonably say that today's Roy has either beaten any good fighters recently, nor looks like a better fighter than Calzaghe, however good he may once have been.
Most people who pick Roy focus 1) on his 'hunger' and 2) on his handspeed and in particular on the possibility of him using it to counter Calzaghe, and we have been here before. These are exactly the arguments that were being used to say Hopkins would win (he motivated himself with his whiteboy comments, and he was a good counterpuncher). Now, the second of these is a decent argument in both cases because Calzaghe is vulnerable to this. The problem is that the argument first of all leaves out what Calzaghe himself will do, which is force the fight at a pace his opponent has never experienced and maintain a constant level of agression whatever shots he eats, and second, in Roy's case ignores the fact that even the still elite Hopkins, holder of the Ring LHW belt could not win with this strategy, so how on earth is Roy Jones, who is no-longer as good as Hopkins going to do it?
I'm not trying to antagonise you Roy fans I know you love him, but all reasonable logic does point to a Calzaghe win, and I hope that you are all able to realise this.
So IMO, "IF" he has legs he will win the fight, a little more easy than you have calzaghe winning the fight. I'm telling you, if his legs are there, Joe wont know where the shots are coming from and will look a fool trying to swing away to get his "points" that he is so accustom to getting to win the rounds..Comment

If he beats Calzaghe, that should be it. The whole Sam Peter talk is just Roy trying to hype this fight. He's smart enough to know that there's no way on this earth he can take a Sam Peter punch. If he was afraid to get hit by Tarver in the third fight, he'll be running laps if he was dumb enough to get in the ring with Peter. I'm a huge RJJr fan and I'm hoping he's smarter than to think he'll have a chance against Peter.Comment

Pretty cheeky of Roy, he's said Joe's a shortcut back to p4p, but to expect him to go as underdog with no belts, against p4p #2, #1 guy at SMW & LHW, and expect him to put all of those belts on the line in the same fight, is pushing it. He's already got 50/50 and Joe in the USA.
Joe would be mad to accept this and he could because he respects Roy too much for an opponent.Comment

LOL, exactly what I think, what a gimmick. Boxings turning a lot of people off with so many belts, weights, conditions, mandatories, unifications, ducking, sanctioning. Last thing we need is to start telling people these guys are fighting at two weight divisions at the same time. Wtf.

Roy is in no way shape or form like hopkins.. roy is faster, stronger, has more stamina, and throws combinations... bernard threw one punch and clinched all night long. this isnt roy.
Dont forget the part where joe has never experienced hands that are as fast and as accurate as roys... ever.
WHATEVER Shots he eats? now your believing your own bull****.. believe it or not joe isnt superhuman... punches CAN stop him... ricky hatton wasnt stopped in 43 fights.. there was no reason to think he would be stopped against floyd... and then he got punched in the face, from an unorthodox punch, that was fast, and he didnt see it... and that was the end.
And theres your problem, you think Hopkins is better than Roy.. and thats where your wrong... Bernard threw one punch at a time, and looked completely gassed by the 7-8th rounds... Roys hands are faster, more powerful, he DOES STILL throw combination, he doesnt throw one punch and clinch... and his stamina IS better than the 43 yr old bernard...
Of course, vegas odds speaking... joe should definitely have the edge in this fight.. hes 3 years younger, hasnt been KOed, and is undefeated... but when you put into light that he will once again be fighting the best fighter hes ever faced... even this 39 yr old roy... logic does allow the possibility for a roy victory.Comment
