I wonder though. If Hopkins makes Pavlik look worse than he made Calzaghe look. What the reactions will be..
Well, everyone will just say what they say now, that Joe is overrated, but he should get the chance to fight Pavlik, and then.....

I probably like Hopkins better than I like Pavlik, and he is the better boxer, but I have my own agenda on this fight, and it trumps eveything else.

I do somewhat agree with you on this dean, and your earlier posts. I've been saying for awhile it's convenient Pavlik uses the old cliche of I'll fight anyone and gets respect for being tough for that. When really he's sitting back and being sent wherever Arum fancies, so it doesn't make him look quite so tough.

Pavlik seems to have little input into his own career as a boxer, to extents way more than average. When it gets to the point more logical fight offers from Abraham and Kessler are avoided, and fights pursued instead with a guys either 2 weight divisions lower or higher, alarm bells should ring for any boxer. Random. The more logical better fights and even offers closer to his division, with belts, are under his nose. All he says is he isn't happy then carries on, why doesn't he man up and say I want, me, I want to stay at MW or v close to, defend my belts, unify MW, and respond on call outs from AA and Kessler for eg?

Whilst I do partially agree Pavlik messing with his weight isn't ideal for him at this stage, I do find a slight double standard here I'm afraid. All we ever heard before this news was Pavliks a fine athlete, huge MW whom can move upto LHW to face Calzaghe if needs be. Nothing mentioned of an old Hopkins having to move lower then he'd like (or his age even), or Calzaghe having to get back down to SMW again either. It was also becoming increasing tolerable Williams jumping 2 divisions. Just seems some criticisms and excuses aren't evenly applied across the board sometimes.

I'd like to see Hopkins win this, but I doubt it will happen. I was skeptical about this fight even goin down at all but it looks like Arum is pursuin it realistically. He should let pavlik call some of his own shots tho. I'm surprised Kelly don't **** on this but he's always down for any fight, and this is much better than Rubio or Mora.

For once, I think B-Hop has a chance to get knocked out, or at least knocked down. I think Pavlik is willing to take Bernard's hard shots to get in there and lay down the hammer. On the other hand I could see Bernard simply outlasting Pavlik and winning a decision. Interesting fight, a lot at stake for Kelly.

            FORGET CALZAGHE.
            He missed his opportunity
            FIGHT ABRAHAM!
Calzaghe is the most notable opponent for Pavlik, win lose or draw with Jones. Abraham makes no dollar sense yet. If he brought in dollars he would be in line to get pummeled too. And for those who think Pavlik will get handled like Lacy did, you better be ready for a BIG suprise*.

Note* That does not mean that Pavlik will def win, just that he will in no way be dominated.

If Pavlik fights Hopkins he is taking a big risk, Hopkins is past it but has the tools to beat Pavlik. It could ruin his chance to face Calzaghe.

A big risk? Hopkins is money in the bank for Pavlik. He gets tired after a few rounds and has no pop to be able to hurt Kelly. There will be no doubt that Hopkins will lose by TKO in my opinion. Imagine the B-hop-Calzaghe fight workrate with harder, more acurate punching. No way Hopkins makes the final bell. Maybe 5 years ago he would have. I wish he would just go away and quit lying to his momma.

Pavlik is slow and predictable but what he does he does well. Hopkins is too smart to get stopped and Pavlik will not land enough to hurt Hopkins, he is not a one punch knockout fighter. What troubled Hopkins with Calzaghe besides his workrate was his speed and Pavlik hasn't got any. Pavlik could lose although i do expect him to win a close SD/UD and not looking good.

I'd much rather see pavlik/williams then see him face hopkins. We seen from hopkins lkast fight that he can't last the full 12 rounds anymore. Also, b-hop won't have soft slaps being thrown at him, but rather big 'meaty right hands'. None the less it would be a boring fight. Hopkins at his best was boring as ****, now at 43-years of age he is even less active!

Hopkins has a good chance to beat Pavlik, just as I think Pavlik has a good chance to beat Calzaghe, but Hopkins loses to Calzaghe EVERY time. No doubt about it. Its all styles. You can't use triangulation here.
