  • After Hopkins, Pavlik Targets Calzaghe. Abraham Out?

If all goes as planned against Bernard Hopkins on October 18, WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will target Joe Calzaghe, who recently made it known that he will continue his career [beyond the September 20th bout with Roy Jones Jr.] to pursue a possible fight with Pavlik. [details]

Both Pavlik AND Calzaghe need to not overlook Jones and Hopkins. Those old wiley veterans will give both those dudes all they can handle.

Bad week for the Pavlik fanboys isnt it?

First Joe sends the fear of god into Pavlik by stating that he might give him that 12 round ***** slapping he's been asking for.

Now he signs to fight a dude that all his fans were calling "grandpa".

What will the Pavlik fans have to whine about now?

What an absolute slap in the face to the entire sport of boxing
        Pavlik,
        FORGET CALZAGHE.
        He missed his opportunity
        FIGHT ABRAHAM!

This is the worst thing that can happen in boxing. This is why you guys wanted to see the so-called big fights rather than just fights. Even Bhop is still trying to make money. Soon it will be Barrera-Morales, then Dlh. We've been there and done that. Now is the time to see guys like Valero, Abraham, Cotto, Mijares, Nonito, Dawson, Pavlik, Pac, Williams, Holt, etc. We do not need to be paying for Dlh, Forrest, Shane, Barrera, Morales, Hopkins, etc. They can't beat anyone anymore. We loved them in their prime, but they are no longer "it".

Arum is doing a damn ****ty job of handling Pavlik right now. What happened to keeping Pavlik focused on the middleweight division?

So he is going to have Pavlik jumping up in weight class for maybe two fights and then magically expects him to go back down? All for landing Calzaghe? who may not even want to fight on?

This whole thing stinks. Time for Pavlik to take some control back in his career. Get Bob to nail down a Winky and Abraham fight. Arum will wreck the guy before he even gets a set of legs under him making him bounce around like that.

Should Taylor fight AA if Pav takes Calzaghe first?
