Baldomir???? Even if De La Hoya fought Baldomir the arena would be half full. i bet if Jesus Christ himself fought Baldomir the arena would be half full. Actually I posted a long time ago about this.

The only people that say PPV numbers are an excuse are fans of fighters who do horrible PPV numbers. If it's an excuse one way, it's a two-way street.

Floyd Mayweather is the most "Notorious" fighter in the game... He is without a doubt the most “Famous”His "Fame" is second to only Oscar among Active Fighters
He is the most "Revered" boxer in the game... Floyd will never be the most Popular (loved) fighter right now because he has chosen to take the bad guy road... it doesn't meaned he isn't popular but he is more Notorious right now rather than Popular.

And the Common denominator between a fighter who's draw steams from Popularity or Being Notorious.

Is that They have People Supporting them. in the same way.

        Money and Attendance...

By your Logic Ali didn't have a fan base early in his career either..
because he was not beloved, instead he was revered..

(Ali didnt become beloved until he dodge the war) remember that.

Some of the most "Famous and successful" people history has ever known
Have been more "Notorious" than Popular... or Have been "Notorious" before they became "Popular"

        Al Capone
        2pac
        Biggie
        Ali
        Malcolm X
        Kobe Bryant
        Terrell Owens
        Deion Sanders
        Britney Spears
        Charles Barkley
        Scarface (Tony Montana)
        The list goes on....
People paying to see him fight are a combination of fans, people who want to witness him lose first hand, boxing fans (not neccessarily Floyd fans), Fans of Floyd's opponents, etc.

Just because people tune in and pay to see him fight, doesnt mean they are particularly fans of his.

the point is fighting Baldo in a half full arena and having such amount of PPV, then why make excuses not to fight Cotto? it wont be half full or become half full ( becuase actually has a chance to win) and guarentess just as many if not more PPV's

Exactly. Funny how the Floyd nuthuggers avioded this post.

Floyd is an example of what's bad about boxing.

I think Floyd is the only champion in recent times to use the excuse of an opponent not doing enough ppv numbers in order not to fight them. I can understand if he wants to use that as a tool to negotiate money, but to use it as an excuse to avoid the fight altogether? Cmon!

                      Fan

A fan, aficionado or supporter is someone who has an intense, occasionally overwhelming liking of a sporting club, person, group of persons, company, product, work of art, idea, or trend. Fans of a particular thing constitute its fanbase or fandom. They may start a fan club, hold fan conventions, create fanzines, write fan mail, or engage in similar activities

Since when do people have an overwhelming like for Floyd? Its actually the exact opposite. The majority of boxingfans cant stand him.
