Cotto has never attracted more than 290,000 PPV. This fight won't break 100,000 and will definitely be closer to Margarito-Gomez than Mayweather-Judah. In fact, I predict this fight will be so bad that HBO won't even release the numbers, and if they do, you can bet they will be exaggerated by 50-75,000.

And Judah is barely a marginal Name

So Floyd vs. Judah = 375,000 buys So you could say that was all Floyd with a Marginal name fighter is better than 2/5 of the most Highest Selling P.P,V EVER not including a HeavyWeight or Oscar..

And if you Say Judah was superstar before the Mayweather Fight how..??

Because What exactly makes Judah a superstar or a big name? that was his first PPV and he had done nothing before that to prove he was a major draw.

Not only was Judah NOT a superstar, he tried to tank the promotion by not participating. These newbie "fans" won't remember, but Judah didn't grant a single interview after the initial presser ...nor did he do any TV or radio.

Bob Arum is 'THE WORST' when it comes down to exaggerating the nums. That ****er will say anything.

HBO typically doesn't exaggerate the nums. At least they CAN'T do it in their reports (Sarbanes-Oxley regs).

        Cotto has no fanbase.
        Margy has no fanbase.

BTW, Mayweather fought Gatti on PPV in June, 2005. Cotto fought Malignaggi on PPV in June, 2006. Yes, Cotto was "younger" in his career.
It took 10 years for Mayweather to get his first PPV... Cotto has only been in the game 7 years and has already had a couple.

How many buys do you think Mayweather v. Jesus Chavez would have made??

          • You don't need to fly out to the hot ass desert to buy a PPV.. I'm confident that the PPV numbers will do good!

            • As a matter of Fact, This fight shouldn't even be on P.P.V..!

This fight should be for free just Like Margarito vs, Paul Williams was..

These dudes do not speak English how do they expect to reach the causal fan in America when they cant even communicate with them..

HBO is taking a huge hit, by paying Cotto 6 million I think....
and they Know this P.P.V will probably bomb...

I also think Bob Arum will not release Cotto Numbers again just like he tryed to do for the Mosley fight.

              • arguing over PPV is hella ******. Is that what our sport has come too? The best fighters can only fight eachother if their PPV sales reach a certain level or status? Give me a break, you guys all sound pathetic imo.

                  • ECONOMY

Anyone who says it isn't that is baiting, a hater, a ***** or Dios Dominicano.

It's quite obvious the toll the economy has taken on EVERYTHING.

Rice was $3.99 a bag here previous to a few months ago.

Know how much it is now? $11.00+ depending on where you go.

Don't say it's not the economy.

Pizza Parlors EVERYWHERE are raising prices because the price of flour has gone up.

                    But it's not the economy.

The economy affecting things at such a low level couldn't possibly have the same affect on something like boxing could it? Where people have to spend whatever left over or extra pleasure money they have on paying to see it.

No way - I'm just making this up obviously.

And global warming isn't real either...

Thats the thing, you are assuming that mayweather and cotto were promoted the same way. They werent, Cotto has been brought up as the second coming since he turned pro after 2000. Mayweather wasnt, more or less they wanted mayweather to be a sugar ray leonard type, always smiling saying the right things etc, but mayweather isnt and is never going to be like that.

Cotto for one, comes from puerto rico, a nation that supports and gets behind their marquee fighters no matter what.

Floyd was never promoted and has never been pushed like that, being a black american, theres alot of competition among elite atheltes that are well, black and american, so its harder to carve that market share especially when the sport is on a downturn right now. Floyd fought some great fights, i remember when he was on USA network, ESPN and then HBO. But again, he wasnt brought up the same way. He was under the radar for YEARS...until he started running his mouth. Once he sold himself as an ******* it worked. And its worked to this day.

Cotto has had quite a few PPVs, but have any of them surpassed mayweathers worst, which is 325k? Im just wondering because honestly i dont know.
