Jermain Taylor is in line for yet another title opportunity, but first he would like to take care of business by facing his former Olympic teammater, Jeff Lacy. The WBC recently named Taylor and undefeated British fighter, Carl Froch, at the two top contenders to the super middleweight title left vacant by Joe Calzaghe. [details]

I agree with you Taylor should not side step Froch but right now Jermain needs a confidence booster.Coming off of two straight losses and fighting a dangerous guy like Froch without being 100% is very risky.Carl will still be there after Taylor fights Lacy and he will eventually fight for a title.If Froch gets it I am sure Taylor will come to take it away

Fair enough, everyone deserves a tune up. But it sounds more like they're building this Lacy fight up as being more significant than the Froch fight.

Taylor has not said he would not fight Froch. He hasn't commented on Froch at all. He said he is all for fighting for a title after he gets the fight with Lacy out of the way. I have no doubt he would fight Froch after the Lacy fight if the opportunity is still there.

By your standards Oscar was ducking Floyd by fighting Forbes simply because he chose to fight Forbes first.

Give Taylor a break. He's fought seven straight fights with past or eventual champions. And suddenly he's without a belt, and in a position to make his own fights without having to worry about defending a title or having no choice in who the sanctioning bodies or HBO wants to line him up against. He might want to enjoy that bit of freedom before diving back into the title picture. Not to mention he's probably been carrying around the idea of fighting Lacy for eight years, and finally has the opportunity to get it off his back.
