Yes. Leonard said that after watching Mugabi-Hagler at ringside. Dundee was convinced later (according to himself) when he saw Leonard's meticulous studying Hagler. He knew he couldn't go a hard 15 with a tough physical fighter like Hagler because of his layoff and age. Props to him and his manager for insisting it be a 12 round fight.
I heard that Leonard said he could beat Hagler when he was at ringside watching the Mugabi fight.
Some of the shots Hagler took in the Mugabi fight were brutal.
The Hagler - Mugabi fight was actually the first fight I recall where you could hear the punches landing. Especially Mugabes. He landed some bonecrunchers.Comment

Mugabi entered the fight with a 25-0 record with all his wins coming by knockout, it was unbelievable the amount of punishment they both took the body in that fight. I think Hagler was peeing blood for a week after the fight.Comment

I just watched the last 3 rounds on youtube. Damn! They were bombing each other... Interesting, Tommy Hearns was an announcer for that fight.
Mugabi was exhausted! Hagler punished him in that last round!!

Brutal fight, Mugabi hadn't gone past 6 rounds prior to the Hagler fight so he began to tire in the later rounds, they both weren't the same after this fight.Comment
