Barrera and Morales both ducked Marquez in their prime

Marquez ducked Joan Guzman who was his proposed title defense while Pacman was still in the legal dispute between Top rank and gbp. Going as far as telling his promoter "hell no we want rocky juarez"
    actually thats not true

when Barrera was with Forum Boxing there were talks with JMM about a potential matchup but they never went to fruition.

now I know this firsthand as I was there when the question was asked. When the Pacquiao-Morales I fight was announced they had their press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Fernando Beltran was talking amongst the media and the question was asked about a potential matchup with JMM. Beltran laughed and said that they indeed offered JMM the fight first, his highest payday, but they refused it. They then went to Pacquiao's people who quickly accepted the offer.

Calzaghe hasn't ducked anyone so let's just forget that idea from the off.

He's obviously trying to legitimise the fight with Jones. Whether it is true or not is irrelevant, anyone prepared to entertain the notion that Calzaghe is scared of Pavlik needs their head checked.

I wouldn't say scared of Pavlik per se. But much like Mayweather more a case of scared of the possibility of losing that 0 in the loss column. So he goes and fights someone he is alot more sure of himself against.

People said the same thing about Lacy and Kessler. The fight is not feasible because of weight issues, Calzaghe has nothing left to prove anyway so who can blame him for wanting to make as much money as possible.
