Roy hated his dad, btw.
Who else is inspired by Bernard Hopkins' story?

Yeah the problem i think he had was he had no amateur background to rest on. He wasn't really well known so no one really heard of him. But, i think it was Larry Merchant said, he got known by just keeping on winning and refusing to go away. And when he got the big fights he won, and lost a few but was never really beaten..yep, he does. And people critisize him for not getting any "big" fights until he was in his 30's but don't understand that there was a reason he had such a tough time - he fought against a lot of the people on top and risked a lot to fight for boxers rights, etc. He's one of the few active fighters that really took the time to actually do something about the sport.
3 of his losses are disputed (Calzaghe and 2 taylor fights) and look how bad Roy looked agaist him!Comment

I don't think his background had much to do with it because he was winning all of his fights. The problem was he made a lot of enemies in the industry and also because he acted as his own manager and refused for most of his career to have anyone else take any of his money.Yeah the problem i think he had was he had no amateur background to rest on.
