Fair point, but perhaps a little too much of a technicality and not enough to undermine comparing 2 fighters as close to the same weight as poss. I mean what if the weight class limits were changed again by a few pound next month. That mean we can't compare fighters whom are a few pounds apart?

No, you go with the closest possible, there's loads of variables when comparing older fighters to more modern ones, I hardly think a few pounds is the biggest. Especially when weigh in, and fight weights have also varied over the years, depending on the division, decade, rules, fighter etc.

...I remember they had an article in one of the boxing mags...they were rating all the best fighters at the time 1 to 10 in all the different abilities (power, chin, finish, etc, etc, etc)...I saw Tyson getting 9 & 10's on all his ratings and this other goofball, who I had never heard of, was getting the same ratings as Tyson for the most part, except he was getting all 10's where Tyson was getting 9's...this guy, who I never heard of, got a 10 in power to Tyson's 9...a 10 in chin...a 10 in finish...I was like, "Jeff Fenech?????...who the f##k is that?...some goofball from what, Australia?!?!?...there ain't no good fighters from Australia!!!!!"...then I saw him fight and he broke some guys face, literally, and he had 2 broken hands...too bad none of you guys ever saw Fenech in his prime...

            Hey Tunney...

Why do you think Erik Morales is better than Floyd at 130?

Is it his impressive 4-4 record at that weight?

The wins over tough competition like Espadas, J. Chavez C. Hernandez and Pacquiao? Just ignore that Floyd beat 2 of them and one of his wins came back and beat him twice.

How about those tough losses to Barrera, Pacquiao, Pacquiao and Raheem?

            Get real Tunney.

I think Mayweather overall has the best record at 130lbs, mostly because of his wins over Hernandez and Corrales. A lot of the other greats stopped by in the weight class, but never really had the opponents or title defences Mayweather did.

Arguello comes pretty close, because he has really big wins over Limon, Chacon and Castillo. I cant rememeber if his win over Boza Edwards was at 130 or not. but I dont think he had the longevity at the weight to be considered more accomplished than Floyd.

Azumeh also comes pretty close, cause he beat Ruelas, Fenech and I think Martinez twice, but thats not really enough to be ahead of Floyd.

then of course theres always Chavez. He beat Mario Martinez, Ruben Castillo, Juan LaPorte, Rocky Lockridge and Roger Mayweather. thing is that Castillo probebly was going downhill. Roger was more chinny than usual at 130, so I dont give Chavez huge amounts of credit for that win, even though it was still good. the Mario Martinez and Rocky Lockridge wins are really big, and almost come close to beating Mayweather's wins, but overall I think Mayweather's opponents were a little better...the Corrales win was just too good.

oh and Morales lost to Raheem at 135, not 130, Im almost positive

I mistakenly thought that the fight was held at 130 lbs.

Ray Famechon, Tommy Collins, Lauro Salas, Orlando Zulueta, Miguel Acevedo, solid wins. Salas even captured the world lightweight title from Jimmy Carter.

But the 130 lb division existed in the days of Sandy Saddler, so the point is mute. Saddler mostly lost when he stepped up to 130 pounds, he was better at 125 where he was stronger then most of his opponents and would use his strength to win. Floyd has fought from 130-154 lbs, Saddler fought at 125 lbs and at 130 lbs as well although he lost a few times whenever he fought at 130, So even if you want to compare a huge 130 lber to Saddler, Floyd still wins in this matchup as he was a beast at 130 pounds, it was his best weight out of all weight classes.

Fair enough. Mayweather is still the best at 130, No? I dont think there is a fighter at that weight who could beat him, but hey thats just my opinion. He was too good at that weight for me to pick a fighter to beat him at 130.

Apart from how much a beast he was at 130 lbs, he beat Hernandez in his 17th Pro fight, Diego Corrales who was undefeated, ranked above him in the weigh class and P4P List, Jesus Chavez, Angel Manfredy and others. He made 8 Title defenses there I think.

...one of Chavez' best wins was over Edwin Rosario...he "murderlized" a fighter that made Livingstone Bramble quit with one punch...and Livingstone had some great fights with Mancini, but after Mancini killed the Korean fighter, which completely ruined him...Franky Randall was another good fighter at that weight...there's a lot of very good fighters that in their primes would put the wood to PBF's ass...
