the Rosario win is huge...but that was at Lightweight, not super featherweight. Randall was at 140.

Apart from how much a beast he was at 130 lbs, he beat Hernandez in his 17th Pro fight, Diego Corrales who was undefeated, ranked above him in the weigh class and P4P List, Jesus Chavez, Angel Manfredy and others. He made 8 Title defenses there I think.
honestly, I dont put a ton into the Hernandez win. yes, I know all about his consecutive title defenses, but overall, he was on his way out by the time Mayweather fought em.

the Corrales win is just so big tho...considering how Mayweather did it+what Corrales went on to do. Corrales just didnt seem right at all that night, but as far a I know there is no legitimate excuse to why he did so bad, so Mayweather gets full credit for dominating Corrales. that one win pretty much tips the scales for him in being the best 130lber of all time, haha

I have to tell you guys... Mayweather's resume at 130 is good, but it's not great, and a lot of that had to do with the lack of talent in the division at the time. He could have taken on Freitas and Casamayor though to boost his resume there.

But really, his title fights at 130 are:
(By the way, I am playing devil's advocate, these are mostly just the negatives)

Genaro Hernandez - Very, very good fighter, but on his way out, which is proven by his retirement after that fight.
Angel Manfredy - A very good fighter whose career came up short. He never even won a world title.
Carlos Rios - He never was or became anything. Just a blown up record full of nobodies.
Justin Juuko - Decent fighter, but a late replacement. Never really became a world beater. Never won a world title.
Carlos Gerena - Another fighter who never won a world title. His biggest win was Jesus Chavez in his 5th fight or so, which was later avenged by Chavez.
Gregorio Vargas - Solid fighter who won the WBC featherweight title, but failed to make a single defense before losing it.
Diego Corrales - Obviously the shining part of the 130 resume (actually his entire career IMO). 33-0, 27 KOs, former IBF 130 champ, but was stripped. Floyd actually landed more punches than Corrales threw... if that's not impressive, I don't know what is. Possibly one of the best performances in the history of the sport.
Carlos Hernandez - Pretty good, although limited as shown by the Floyd fight. Mayweather had both hands majorly messed up and still won almost every round. Anyway, good fighter who won a world title over David Santos, and actually defended it against Steve Forbes, which is a pretty good win for sure. Lost to Erik Morales. Another good name on Floyd's resume.
Jesus Chavez - I think Chavez is a good name on his 130 resume as well. Clearly an up-and-coming, very hungry fighter. Only lost once pre-Mayweather, but avenged it. After he lost to Floyd, he beat Sirimongkol Singwancha (I wish I knew who that was) to get the WBC 130 strap. Actually ended up winning the IBF 135 title in a tragic bout against Leavander Johnson.

A lot of good names, a couple of pretty good names, but only one great name.

I just think that someone with the longevity of Chavez, or the short list of great names from Arguello might be enough to beat out Floyd's, although I don't know nearly enough about either of Arguello or Chavez's opponents to make an accurate call on this matter.

That's my DLT post for the week.

Is it his impressive 4-4 record at that weight?

The wins over tough competition like Espadas, J. Chavez C. Hernandez and Pacquiao? Just ignore that Floyd beat 2 of them and one of his wins came back and beat him twice.

How about those tough losses to Barrera, Pacquiao, Pacquiao and Raheem?

            Get real Tunney.

notice how this tool never really elaborates on anything. You still dont know **** about boxing. YOu didn't even know who floyd was at 130lbs! be real viva you started this thread in hopes to get people behind you to say floyd sucks. Floyd in the lighter division was the best ever! if you cant see that you either A. didn't watch boxing then B. a complete floyd hater C. or blind.

corrales had a bad night because he was facing prison time right after the fight. you know that had to be on his mind and its hard to stay focused during training and the fight when your going to get locked up.

i agree with you on hernandez. chicanito was a great mexican fighter but by the time mayweather got to him he was on his way out and thats why he retired right after. he knew he didnt have his best anymore.

He was also pretty awesome in the 135 category. I think it's very unfair people bash him for ducking Cotto. Yes he did duck Cotto and yes he did duck Margarito for different reasons i will not get into here but people forget that in his natural weight he was a machine, exciting, fast, defensive AND offensive (in the good way). When he fought Hoya the size difference was shocking, i remember people here and Hoya's people like Mosley calling him a "little shrimp" at the weigh in.

Freitas and Casamayor wanted none of Floyd, he called them out atleast three times in post-fight interviews, He also called out Mosley and DLH in 2003 I believe.

I'm not saying Saddler has a better resume at 130 than Mayweather, the division wasn't really much of a division in those days.

He just had some solid wins there and lost only once to Flash Elorde (other losses were at LW or above, weight wasn't really a problem in those days, Saddler would often fight at 128 lbs against opponents who weighed about 140).

I only really rate the HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW and FW divisions, the others I don't have much of an opinion about.

Mayweather may have well been the best SFW fighter, to be honest there haven't been many who have consistently fought at that weight.
