I do know that you will have an easier time finding a resume that beats his than a fighter to beat him at 130.

EDIT: This thread is definately a question of resume though. Leave the head to head at home, or make a new thread, because I guarantee you this thread is about resume.
I'll write down a list of some Great fighters at 130 lbs, you tell me which ones have beaten better fighters at 130 lbs than Floyd has beaten at 130 lbs who were in their Prime and which ones would beat him in a head-to-head matchup (Forget the one's he has already beaten, choose the rest).

Well, whatever, 14 months is quite a long time.

I guess I need to explain to you why I do not answer historical questions.

I have seen Acelino Freitas fight once at 130, Casamayor twice at 130, Hernandez once at 130 and Corrales twice at 130.

I don't have a deep background with current fighters even (except for Floyd, because I watched all of his fights when I first started watching the sport) and I have literally no background with fighters pre-90s.

I know that Freitas's pressure style may have given him problems, but the late rounds of Casamayor mean he probably wouldn't have.

Casamayor was slick and a southpaw, which Floyd always seemed to have a bit of trouble with in his 130 days, but I can imagine Floyd's speed would win out.

Corrales would KO Mayweather though... easy.

Hernandez... Floyd beats him, even in his prime.

Why no Chavez on the list?

But yeah, that's about all the analysis I can offer on the question. Sorry... that's why I've been focusing on Floyd's resume, rather than comparative analysis between fighters, because I just don't know **** about other great fighters' resumes.

Did Corrales know he was spending 14 months in Prison before the fight/ his trials or was that decided after his fight?

After the fight I'm sure. They give the sentence after deciding guilt or not. But they do have a range of punishment that you know before hand. He knew that he would be spending months in prison for beating his wife... the fact that he did it so brutally and she was pregnant probably meant he was going to get the maximum sentence or close to it, and... he pleaded no contest, so he knew he was going to end up going to jail for it.

He knew he was guilty and didn't have a technicality to get out of it, so... he was conscious of it during the fight for sure... what effect that had? No idea.

Gotta go with Parody on this one. Mayweather's movement was perfect that night. If you watch the first Corrales-Casamayor fight, you can also see that Casamayor's movement really reduces Corrales' workrate. However, Casamayor isn't nearly as fast as Mayweather and didn't throw as fast as Mayweather did.

I wasn't arguing that, I was just correcting Parody on the whole jail situation. Mayweather is clearly the better of the two, and would win every time.

By the way, how are you and Kball going to decide who wins your FOTY frontrunner bet?

He just had some solid wins there and lost only once to Flash Elorde (other losses were at LW or above, weight wasn't really a problem in those days, Saddler would often fight at 128 lbs against opponents who weighed about 140).

I only really rate the HW, LHW, MW, WW, LW and FW divisions, the others I don't have much of an opinion about.

Mayweather may have well been the best SFW fighter, to be honest there haven't been many who have consistently fought at that weight.
Manchine, I think you should give more consdieration to 130 and 140. Those are divisions who saw many excellent/great fighters fight at the weight for a decent time, they are much older than the other jr./super and/or consistently more contended.

                      130 champions:
                      Kid Chocolate
                      Flash Elorde
                      Sandy Saddler
                      Hiroshi Kobayashi
                      JC Chavez
                      Alexis Arguello
                      Azumah Nelson
                      Floyd Mayweather Jr.

                      140 champions:
                      Tony Canzoneri
                      Barney Ross
                      Duilio Loi
                      Nicolino Locche
                      Antonio Cervantes
                      Wilfred Benitez
                      Aaron Pryor
                      JC Chavez
                      Kostya Tszyu

I tried to omit those who had very few fights at the weight and focus on those who stayed there for a while, I think they are pretty deep divisions!
