One of the reasons there was so many incidents and most boxers were close to Vegetables by the time they were done...

I wonder if you have even lace them up. Sure doesn't seem like it, otherwise you wouldn't even make such a ridiculous statement. Go watch some of that UFC crap if that's what u'r into
At the time the punches will hurt more but 20 years on you won't have brain damage.

I'm not a scientist/medical professional so my opinion doesn't mean much, but I actually think smaller gloves could be benifitial. Small gloves = fast knockouts which means less brain damage. Getting knocked out is safer than taking a sustained beating over 12 rounds. The dangerous thing about boxing is someone takes a continuous beating over 12 rounds and they get a chance to get up if they're knocked down and start taking that beating all over again. It is much safer to box four rounds and get knocked out than it is to box a full 12 rounds.

The most brutal KO I've ever seen, don't watch if you're squeamish. Griffith-Paret 3.

You can't tell me that was bad technique.

I bet you you'll still change your opinion even getting hit with 10 oz gloves. Listen man, I've sparred with 16 oz gloves and they still hurt like hell, i can only imagine 8 oz gloves or 4 oz gloves. Boxing wouldnt be a sport anymore, it'll be like MMA.

Broadly speaking I think the current glove sizes are roughly about right. The whole smaller gloves for faster knock outs thing has some logic to it, but that doesn't mean it balances out as the correct choice. It's about getting a balance, imagine if there were bigger gloves across the board, we'd see less cuts, jaws breaking, less KO's. The fact is whilst for some this would be less entertaining, many actually are put off boxing by these things so it'd appeal more. So the balance is a happy medium, and the various of outcomes are happening, so why change and make it more predictable when the variation is already there.

So the balance is about right how it is at the moment. We still have a balanced amount of KO's, cuts, bone breakages, 12 round fights, early stoppages. So changing it now would tip the balance unnecessarily. It is still very possible to hurt someone with just one punch, christ we saw it the other night with Abraham knocking Miranda down with 3 seperate single punches, and they hurt and phased Miranda.

If there was smaller glothes there'd be more cuts, it'd be and look a lot more brutal, the fighters would often have the energy to go on and years ago could with cuts n' all sorts, it could turn into a slug fest with neither willing to stop. That couldn't happen now, and if they did get to the later rounds it'd be horrible, this is a sport over a decent amount of time testing endurance and skill, not so much a quick burst of lethal punches and early ending. That's not boxing it's brutal dangerous fighting.
