They had terrible techinique. they didnt punch nearly as hard as they do today.

and 1 flush shot almost almost hurt the guy. Joe louis nailed u flush u were dazed every time.

Deaths were more common because there wasnt a set commision. Things were flimsy and every loosely regulated, if at all. Club fights were barbaric back then.

10oz gloves are a bit too big on welterweights. 8-6oz gloves seem like a better size, but anything lower is asking for trouble. broken hands everywhere, very dangerous knockouts/cuts, etc. boxers hit too hard for that size.

too big of gloves make fighters take prolonged beatings, but too small of gloves make the punches just too brutal. inbetween is perfect.

I suppose the reason more people are for big gloves is that cuts, bones broken are minimised while the increase in risk from brain damage is only increased slightly. So it's a compromise.
Yes you are on spot (phd in physics here) but the risk isn't just slight. I believe an experience should be conducted: Fewer rounds, smaller gloves, just so we see what happens

WOW How iiiigggggnnooooorraaannnnttttt(is that how u do it????)

I wonder if you have even lace them up. Sure doesn't seem like it, otherwise you wouldn't even make such a ridiculous statement. Go watch some of that UFC crap if that's what u'r into

Their technique was fine and they punched with a lot of power back then as well.

Wladimir Klitschko could literally kill someone if they made the gloves smaller...I gotta say NO to that idea.

Berto's gloves just look bigger because Grant's padding is distorted differently. Watch the Judah/Mayweather fight. I think that's the best example of how gloves can be made differently yet still be 8 ounces.

Big gloves suck all the drama out of the ring.

                  Andre Bertos gloves were huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

If he were wearing much smaller gloves, you have an exciting and early KO instead of a boring fight and then an exciting KO.

I mean seriously, look at the supermiddleweights. The gloves for that weight class are huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

Answer me this though. How can MMA have 4 ounce gloves, have that be perfectly legal in Vegas, but Boxing struggles for years to get 8 ounce gloves approved??????

Where the **** is the sense?

Seriously. The biggest gloves anybody in boxing should be wearing, are 10 ounce and that should be heavyweights and maybe cruiserweights ONLY.
Let me hit you with a uppercut wearing 4 oz gloves and see if you feel the same way.

Why would you even want that? It is incredibly difficult to last 12 rounds and that is one of the things that separate boxing from that UFC crap. Smaller gloves and less rounds would take the beauty or professional boxing away and turn it into crap(MMA).

yes, thats why i said Heavyweights and cruisers remain with the same sized gloves. Those sizes are fight. You have enough drama at heavyweight anytime someone lands flush.

In the lowerweights, u can hit a guy flush 5 times in a row and nothing will happen sometimes.

There technique was pretty bad dude. It was a very primitive form of the sport. Not nearly as advanced as it is today.
