That being said, Saying Kessler is the second best SMW is the same as saying Verno Phillips is the 154 champion. Joe brought recognition to that class. There is NO ONE else worth **** in that weight class. Sorry dude.
Because there is no "Americans" that are decent in that weight class, thats the only reason. There have been plenty of good fighters in that division but the majority have been European. Yes Lightweight & Welterweight are by far the best divisions at the moment. The Middleweight division is on par with the super middleweight division.....

This comes from a guy who bet Lockett over Pavlik.

I bet it for a good laugh at 3:1 odds, of course Pavlik was going to win I was having a bit of fun. But I wouldn't be suprised if someone who was a bit average beat Pavlik I don't rate it him at all other than his power.

I feel you that Kessler may not get the respect that he deserves... but still... he didn't look particularly good against Cal-Z and then ran away from Miranda. His resume is solid, but not spectacular.... I think it's foolish to assume he'd run over Taylor and/or Pavlik.

He didn't run away from Miranda thats already been said, why is Miranda become such a god recently, he couldnt even beat a middleweight with a broken jaw.

He has never been backed up because no one he has fought has had the power, chin, or toughness to do it, and i dont see anyone in the MWs that can do it, the division now is just terribly weak, if he moves up to super MW then we will see what he is really made of, if taylor almost stopped him the bigger punchers are going to give him trouble.

Who other than Taylor has Pavlik beaten? don't say Miranda hes the most overrated fighter in the world today. Johnson does give alot of guys problems but he isnt a great fighter and hes got certain fighters at the right time. I can tell you that 90% of the boxing community picked Lacy before the fight.
I know Pavlik and Lacy are two different creatures. I don't know you at all but I know you can't see the difference. I also know you can't talk about the records when Calzaghe has only fought Hopkins who as I stated is over 40 and Kessler who wouldn't in my opinion beat any of the top guys I mentioned. 90% of the boxing community picked Lee to beat Vera, and more than 90% picked Forrest to beat Mora. The boxing community isn't always right. I'm not saying I hate Calzaghe(although I do think he slaps and swings rather than throws punches) I just want him to defend his title against a formidable opponent. Much like fans wanted Floyd to fight the top guys in WW.

Look, it's very trying being rational on this site... What I'm not going to do is create a fictional list of fighters that a fighter has never fought and say that he would absolutely beat them. I will say this... in 2008 Kelly Pavlik more than probably poses a bigger threat to Calzaghe than RJJ.

"Styles make fights" Yes. And RJJ's style at this point him in his career gives him a very small chance to win a fight over Calzaghe. He doesn't punch enough to win rounds and doesn't have the pop to knock him out.
