I don't believe you. I don't believe that you actually believe that. Fighters make fights. Roy Jones Jr. is unfortunately no longer a fighter.

Roy Jones isn't the same fighter he was no where near. Taylor well.....
You've obviously haven't boxed before. Lacy and Pavlik are two totally different animals. You think because Pavlik has a lot of knock outs he is like Lacy? Lacy was very one dimensional ( I agree and overrated). Pavlik can box as well as ****. Lacy had no jab what so ever! Never have and never will. Boxing is a sport of matchups. Just because one fighter looks bad against another doesn't mean anything. Dawson and Calzaghe would be great fight. Johnson gives alot of guys problem. Regardless of how he looked against Woods. I'll give you this, Joe would beat Johnson and probably Tarver. He may even beat Jones and Dawson. Depending on which one shows up. Taylor really has talent but is untrainable. Which leaves Pavlik. I see Joe running and frustrating the hell out of Pavlik but .....If the kid stays calm I see him winning big. I can tell you though man, my friends and I picked Joe and just about every other fighter over Lacy. He was more hyped in the UK than in the US. that's a fact.

You don't rate Johnson? Why? Because he never ran from a fight and fought all the great fighters of his generation all over the world and as a result lost some fights? Is that the reason? If so, I think you're exactly what's wrong with boxing.

No I admire that hes fought the best, but that doesn't mean hes a great boxer. Johnson has some great wins over Jones, Tarver but he got them at the right time. He had a close match and just lost vs a average Woods. Lost recently just to Dawson to. Hes lost far to many times in his career even if some of those were close. If Calzaghe went vs Johnson he would get no credit whatsoever.

You know nothing about me, Pavlik is just as predictable as Lacy, all Pavlik does is 1 2 1 2. They said Lacy could **** to..... Who other than Taylor has Pavlik beaten? don't say Miranda hes the most overrated fighter in the world today. Johnson does give alot of guys problems but he isnt a great fighter and hes got certain fighters at the right time. I can tell you that 90% of the boxing community picked Lacy before the fight.

Straight after the Roy victory he would, they were actually scheduled to fight each other but Joe broke his hand again.

calzaghe is playing it safe. fight a guy who was great, now has a suspect chin, and is way past his prime, and also very beatable now. verses fighting a ko artist who is in his prime and who can fight at any weight that calzaghe would fight at. i've said before that i think calzaghe could beat pavlik due to big show experience, but having seen pavlik maturity in dealing with new found success, i think pavlik is ready for a challenge like calzaghe. he has the punch and he has the heart, he has the determination, and he has the wherewithal in how to deal with adversity. it seems to me like calzaghe has fell in love with his undefeated record and is taking every precaution to keep it in tact, instead of throwing caution into the wind and taking the bigger risk in fighting pavlik.
a roy jones fight would've been more competitive and more special years ago, now, especially now after jones has had his nerves rewired in his jaw from tarver and johnson, and jones' reactions are slowing down, it's not that attractive. it's only attractive if you are thinking in the terms of the old days, when they should've fought, now the beast in and around their divisions is pavlik, even though he has just bursted onto the world scene, pavlik has made it a point to make each fight count, and always give a great performance.
i don't mind that calzaghe is fighting jones, as long as it's not his last fight, because the way i see it, he's picking jones over pavlik because he knows he can win that fight, i don't think calzaghe wants to really risk his undefeated record against a guy who can and may very well knock him out.
i find it funny that after the pavlik-lockett fight, that calzaghe has retracted his statements on wanting to fight pavlik and changed his mind back to jones, maybe enzo did go back to joe with confirmation from lockett, that pavlik hits like a wrecking ball and if he wants a better chance at retiring undefeated that he better fight jones instead. i wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. not one bit..............

5 years ago he would've when Johnson signed on to come to the UK and fight Cal. But what happened? Oh right, Cal backed out TWICE.

There is nothing to debate on that subject. Being a double world champion means more to Europeans than the rest of the world. The SMW is not one of the most competitive classes. In fact, when you look at LW,JWW,WW,MW and SMW I'm willing to bet all of my points that most on here that talk boxing on the regular would rate it near the bottom of the list. That being said, Saying Kessler is the second best SMW is the same as saying Verno Phillips is the 154 champion. Joe brought recognition to that class. There is NO ONE else worth **** in that weight class. Sorry dude.
