mayweather didn't retire, he chicken bowed it ....

Joe ranks higher than mayweather IMO
because look at Joe he's close to 36 and still beating
legends. Mayweather is not even 31 and retires
when there are cottos and mosleys to beat.
its easy to look as good as mayweather when
u don't fight anyone that can give you a challenge
would he look so good against a mosley ? or a cotto ???
he knows the answer thats why he chicken bowed it ...
can anyone see pavlik losing though ?
thats why this is a great fight. pavlik is not the fighter
to quit or to lose, same with calzaghe
those make great fights when both fighters refuse to be defeated
what other fight out there has so much potential to be a classic ?
THIS IS THE ONLY FIGHT THAT MATTERS RIGHT NOW !!!!
    LETS GET IT ON !!!

He is the real deal but he is 35 was protected in his prime years and was not impressive at all against an old Hopkins who was a middleweight his whole career , Joes biggest risk fight was Kessler and he showed that Kessler has no second game plan , it was a good win for Joe , Kesslers biggest wins were Mundine and Beyer and Kessler was taken the distance with a former lightweight blown up like porky pig in Thobela and Kessler has no killer instinct ,,,, Kellys biggest wins are Taylor and Miranda the rest he takes them out like good fighters do , brutally ,,, I think you will find that at only 26 and standing 6'2" Pavlik will prove to be the real deal also , so you guys can laugh and drop Lacy and Kessler all night long , timings and one fighter rising the other fading makes Kelly a very dangerous fight for JC right now , the longer Joe leaves it the more chance he looses .

I responded. YOU decided to put your dog into a fight that you cannot win. My screen name? Look it up. It's even on BoxRec.
Simple terms? A fighter doesn't need devastating punching power to be an elite.
That I can understand. The problem here is that you canot read sarcasm. And I do fully understand that you do not need punching power.

I like Kelly, I think he is very good. I do not think he is good enough to beat Joe Calzaghe. Hopefully we'll get to see the fight soon.

So he is a lot more powerful, and capable of harder shots than we see today. A shame really, if he was able to hit as hard as he did and can, he'd be unstoppable imo. It's testament to Calzaghe's elite ness that he manages to win without that old asset of his.
Where do you get you information from , Joe has never been a big puncher his KO record proves it , he overwhelms them for stoppages he dont KO jack**** and never has , 2 KOs in his career the killers Tyler Hughes and Frank Minton who was knocked out cold 5 times prior to Joe .

All your praise of his younger greatest , he fought nobody back then and his first real test was Kessler which was a great win and he proved he is an elite fighter , but all this legend stuff is full of hot air and hand picked opponents at the right time , Joe is a very good fighter but some of this **** is just so over the top .

What he says is a fact. No-one is claiming that Joe was ever a one-punch KO monster, but I personally REMEMBER the days when Calzaghe was regarded as a KO artist, with serious pop in his punches.

As for the assertion that his "first real test was Kessler" that is just wrong. I'd say beating Chris Eubank at age 25 was a HUGE test, and also I have to point out that the passage of time has caused everyone to forget that fighters like Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall, Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell and Omar Sheika were all top ten SMW's during Joe's reign as champ, and he beat them all. These are not the superfights that everyone expects and demands of Joe today, but tests for a young SMW champion? Of course they are. Everyone forgets that Joe was not always the P4P star he is today, back then he was just a young guy with a belt, and he beat all the guys in his division who could conceivably have taken it.
