Lacy has a great chin. He's been caught with some great shots before and had never been down before the Calzaghe fight. In my opinion, that, if nothing else about the fight, would be noteworthy. But he didn't just wear him down and then knock him down late, he utterly dominated Lacy throughout the fight, turned his face into a bloody swollen mess, and made him look like an amature.

I don't think anyone is claiming Joe is a 1 punch KO machine, but he can put power behind his punches. His knockout ratio shows proof of that. Anything said otherwise is sheer bias.

Many say Joe cannot punch. He can punch, but does not need to. If he fought pavlik and got in some trouble, protecting his hands would become very secondary and he will load up. I see them two as a great fight, and the only fight worthy for both of them.

Lockett said post fight that he did not see the punches coming. That one statement says a lot, let me explain.

Pavlik punches hard with everything he throws, but he never loads up or telegraphs even though he is not fast. He seems to like it when guys try to do a peekaboo defense as he will thread that needle and still get to them. he did it against Miranda, Taylor and now Lockett. He will even sometimes bat his opponents left glove away with a left hook and deliver a right hand behind it.

It is actually very precision technical stuff. It is those little things that will make him tough to beat.

Many want to see Winky fight him, but Winky and his peekaboo is made for Pavlik. it will take a guy with very good head movement and footwork to beat him. Same thing will happen to Abraham, he likes Peekaboo also and will also get beaten down. I'll say this once more, Winky and Abraham will get slaughtered by Pavlik!!!

Joe has the best chance being awkward and a lefty. He will have to keep moving though and not square up. It is a good tough fight and whoever forces their style better wins the fight. If they fight both will have a key to victory and whoever wants it more wins.

And Calzaghe slaps like a little *****. Pavlik will KO him inside 4 rounds.

I Agree with the First Statement
          But not the second

Dlh never landed an effective punch all fight, and FLoyd Rocked DLH many times, Asside from the Wild LH that DLh landed flush that PBF took in stride, he really just made floyd back up and get countered all night

Excellent post, summped the fight up pretty much spot on.

            Green K for that.

When hurt, Joe's brittle hands fly out the window, and he lands some devastating punches.

Everyone says Taylor and Miranda hit harder, and couldn't stop Pavlik. Taylor doesn't, and although Miranda does, he was not be able to get to Pavlik as much as Joe would. If you can't land punches with any regularity, power becomes irrelevant. Joe is more than capable of putting Kelly away, but he will not risk it because if his hands go against somebody like Pavlik, he would be in big, big trouble.

Everyone thinks Joe's brittle hands are something new, when in fact he had operations on them as an amatuer, and was even told he would never be able to box again. Since that, he has turned pro and the rest, as they say, is history.

No way is the fight at MW, Calzaghes not made such a weight in over 12 years, and struggles to make SMW. I'd be surprised if it's even at a catch weight of 166.

Great post. Lacy was knocked down and totally out gunned. For a fighter known for his KO power, it was and can be deemed almost useless when your opponent doesn't give you a chance to land, even though your punches are less hard it enables landing more powerful shots on them. It was close to TKO a few times. Such a beating on another opponent with a lesser chin would've KO'd.

The Lacy fight should have been stopped a few times, if not by the ref by the guys corner. By not throwing in the towel, his corner have effectively ruined his entire career.

Enzo knows this, notice how the towel came in a little earlier than most Americans are probably used to.

Calzaghe is the Light Heavyweight champion, two divisions higher than Pavlik and has always fought at a higher weight class than him... Please to god don't tell me you think a 173 lbs Pavlik can out muscle Calzaghe who has fought guys as big as 190.

Watch at the end of round 5, Kessler moves in to pressure Calzaghe so Calzaghe just ties him up and hits him. Calzaghe is a big match spoiler, Pavlik wont be able to go to work.

is this guy serious?? Pavliks last opponent lasts all of 3 rounds....Calzaghes last opponent (a 40 something Hopkins) went all 12 rounds

Pav knocks people OUT....Calzaghe decesions people
