Roberto Duran is as unique as Sugar Ray Robinson. Thats just a cheap shot. You should know better. Yeah, Mayweather was a great fighter, a great fighter that never reached its full potential cause he was too catious with opponet picking. But he paid his due as a fighter and if he wants to retire he can do so, but im not going to bull**** about his career. He had the fighters their that some or many thought could give him a tough fight. ****, before I.Robinson lost he was supposdly a threat to Maywether but guess what that fight never happend and Robinson could have elevated himself to the occasion but we may never know and its the samething with some of floyd other could be opponets. The way i see it. Floyd and Roys careers went similar paths when they were on top.
All the ATG's had a career defining fight. Which was Floyd's?

Floyd/Cotto....2 prime undefeated champions that were in the SAME weight-class/division. Classic matchup of slick boxer vs boxer/puncher. It would've been the closest thing to Duran vs Leonard. Im not saying this because im a big Cotto fan, but that fight there would've been Floyd's career defining fight that put him on the map with the rest of the ATG's.
Floyd vs Castillo - Contraversial decision, then Floyd came back and ud'd him in the rematch. Good win for Floyd, but not career defining.
Floyd vs Corrales- Stories of Corrales being severely weight-drained, and having personal problems outside the ring at the time
Floyd vs Hatton- Hatton was a lww that came up to fight Floyd at a weight that he had struggled in the past at with a b class fighter (Collazo)
Floyd vs Oscar- Oscar was inactive and about 10yrs past his prime.
It would be a career defining fight for Cotto NOT Mayweather.
So Oscar was past his prime after he turned 25? Thank youComment

At the moment, what win would get Floyd more credit other than a win over Cotto? Who can Floyd defeat right now that will give him more credit, other than a win over Cotto. Be realistic.Comment

What shouldn't be forgotten though is that Frazier DID beat Ali in the biggest fight ever. That win defines Frazier's career and he was never the same after it.my point is, Ali wasnt at the stage where he was already considered "GREAT" when he fought Frazier, yet was able to get a career defining win.
Even better, if Frazier were to have beaten Ali, that would had been HIS career defining win. Saying that Cotto would not had been Floyd's defining win is ridiculous because you just don't know. Floyd didnt fight him. For all we know, this fight could had been a toe to toe battle because as boxing has shown us, **** doesnt always play out the way we think it will.
Ali's career-defining fight for me was his KO win over the unbeaten (39-0) George Foreman who had destroyed the two men who had beaten Ali, Norton and Frazier and also his fights against Sonny Liston and the Thrilla in Manila against Frazier, but the Foreman win was his greatest.Comment

why do you guys do that? why? why must you always turn floyd into some kind of victim? you know why floyd gets **** for hatton? because although there were some people thinking hatton was going to win (british) anyone with any sort of boxing knowledge knew it was a complete mismatch. yet here you are touting that win as if Floyd steam rolled through a certified ATG that who not even Duran could measure up to.
Am sorry but i wouldnt even put that Hatton win up there at all.Comment

You're telling me your age.
Sure now that you know how Robinsons career ended up now you'll belittle I.Robinson but im talking about when Robinson was in his prime and when he had a lot of hype to him. But you don't understand cause i don't think you followed Robinson or only came to see him fight when he was already done as a fighter.Comment

So weight-drained that he fought at 130 for another 3 years? Diego said himself before the match that there would be no excuses, no amount of training would have made Floyd easier to hit on that night.Floyd/Cotto....2 prime undefeated champions that were in the SAME weight-class/division. Floyd vs Corrales- Stories of Corrales being severely weight-drained, and having personal problems outside the ring at the time
Corrales/Floyd was also 2 undefeated prime champions (130-135 was Floyd's true prime) and was compared in the media to Hearns-Leonard. Cotto-Floyd is a fight I'd love to see, but it isn't breaking new ground.
First of all, many in the boxing media picked Hatton and it wasn't until after that all the sudden Hatton was never a true challenger. I am not saying that Hatton is close to Duran, but the perception that everyone knew that Floyd would steamroll Hatton is simply not true. Floyd should get credit for beating an undefeated P4P fighter just one weight class below him, where Floyd should actually be at. I had never heard of moving up one weight class was such a big deal until Hatton did it. It's not like Floyd came in 160 on fight night, they were nearly the same size.why do you guys do that? why? why must you always turn floyd into some kind of victim? you know why floyd gets **** for hatton? because although there were some people thinking hatton was going to win (british) anyone with any sort of boxing knowledge knew it was a complete mismatch. yet here you are touting that win as if Floyd steam rolled through a certified ATG that who not even Duran could measure up to.Comment

None unless he goes up and fight let say pavlik!!! But a Cotto win for Floyd doesnt do more for him like it would do for Cotto if cotto beat Mayweather...Thats why i said the fight is more of a career-defining fight for Cotto than Mayweather, If Mayweather beat Cotto people alway find a way to discredit and ship away at the victory.Comment

A non weight drained Corrales would have been a differnt fight but we'll never know.So weight-drained that he fought at 130 for another 3 years? Diego said himself before the match that there would be no excuses, no amount of training would have made Floyd easier to hit on that night.
