he wanted calzaghe before i think. joe's promoter didn't get too serious in the negotiations.

not sure but that's what i've read somewhere. i don't know how accurate it was. but i wouldn't doubt it. roy loved collecting belts or the heads who held belts.

Yeah, I mean I just don't see the point in fighting Kessler. He is a relative unknown in the states and when you only have 1 or 2 fights left might as well make them the biggest they can be.

well... ill tell you why... if he were to fight kessler... i think it would be for one of the vacant SMW belts

roy has said in an interview... no former HW champ has EVER, reclaimed the SMW title

if roy were to come from MW to SMW to LHW to HW.. back down to LHW then back down and reclaim a SMW title.. he would be top 10 atg no doubt..

        and just because....

Here is my problem with the Kessler fight. Kessler is a big puncher and Roy has been touched up before. I would hope that this wouldn't enter into Roy's head and lead to him fighting more cautiously then he normally would.

oh trust me, we both share the same concern.... with that said i think antonio tarver is a bigger puncher than kessler... if hes not then its CLOSE... i also think ruiz can def punch harder than kessler... i think roy is naturally a bigger guy and would be able to take the shots.. although im sure the game plan would be NOT TOO...

Mayweather is 147, the Margarito and Cotto come in at over 160. Plus he already fought people of that weight in De La Hoya and Baldomir.

Jones was 198-199 for Ruiz (see Legendary nights), Ruiz 6'2 and 226.

Just saying, but IMO misrepresenting facts makes your point less valuable in the eyes of those who know the actual facts.
i wasn't misrepresenting facts. 193 was the number i remembered from ruiz fight. forgive me if i was wrong the fight was a while back. i was going off of memory. sorry i didn't look it up on boxrec before i posted.

226 to 230 is accurate if you round up. again i was going off of memory.

and as far as margarito and cotto i wasn't taking about them specifically. cotto is not 5'11-6'1. and it kinda gets screwy with people cutting weight but even if they come in at 160 they still have to weight drain don't they? something ruiz didn't have to. and floyd doesn't come in a 147. i know he used to fight at 130 but the boy has a 18 inch neck now. i wouldn't be surprised if he came in the ring in the mid 150's.

Boxrec would show 193 that's the official weight, but if you look at legendary nights you see Roy weighing himself with friends at 199 and talking **** about how Ruiz is going to think “this mutha***a aint 193”

If ruiz had to cut weight, he could do 210 very easily, no? not like he was super ripped at 220-225

I think Mayweather might weigh in mid 150's by 2009. Right now I defintely dont think so.

Glad we agree on the bold.

I DO think he is slowly growing in the weight, but very slowly...
