What I'm saying is that you have that first fight to judge how Roy would fair against Tarver at that age. He showed at 34(?) that he could not only be competitive with Tarver but that he could beat him. I'm not sure how long after the second fight took place, but I believe it was the very next fight for both.

Although maybe I'm shooting myself in the foot here. If the rematch took place right after then I see what you both are saying about age, weight, and recoup time.

        8 months later, tarver fight...

If you cant see a serious DIFFERENCE here, an UNHEALTHY difference here... then there is no help for you...

how would that be better comparison? of what he looked like before he moved up? if i can even find one

            • We can answer all of these questions but lets be honest...

More people would rather watch RJJ fight than Mayweather.

What RJJ does in the ring just isn't fully understood by most people. You have to have a good knowledge of the sweet science to see the subtleties in what Jones does. Thats just the truth. Thats why you hear about what Dundee says about Jones, and Leonard about Jones.

              RJJ was/is the truth.

yeah i meant so one could see his 175 body, not his HW body for a more correct comparison, and still see the difference.

cant embed them, but here are the links

THIS ONE HERE PROBABLY THE BEST FOR COMPARISON, cos jones isnt throwing

i can't agree with that live. i know that's a popular view and in his prime there was times when i thought that.

the problem with roy wasn't taking risk (aside from being scared of a european robbery vs. dariusz but after seoul can you blame him?) it was his negotiation tactics. 60-40 and i'll kick your ass remember? he didn't draw like oscar. that 40 might not have been enough to risk getting embarassed by roy which was more than likely.

floyd's best wins (for me anyway) were corrales , castillo , hatton and de la hoya for the name. i think toney , hopkins , hill , ruiz are much superior. granted floyd is not done and wins over margarito and cotto would enhance his resume but still don't know if he can surpass roy.

think of it after roy beat them , hop became the longest reigning middleweight , hill held a cruiser title , toney held a cruiser title and was competitive at heavy , ruiz regained his heavy titles. a dariusz win would have made roy's resume much more competitive with the other greats. a legacy win worth much more than the money he would have made imo.

Neither what Mayweather does is fully understood by most people... For example the way his positioning in the ring and his stance have a ”negative“ effect on the other fighter throwing, by reducing his opportunities might be boring, but it is great stuff if you understand it.
