man, FFS, this stoppage was fair. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
Taylor never responded to Steele's questions. therefore he can't continue.

Like I said, if you're a ref, and you ask a fighter who has just taken punishment for12 rounds, fell on his own punch, etc etc., ask him if he is ok 2 times and he doesn't respond, and you send him out again, you're a horrible ****ing ref with all due respect.

That was the same ref who sent a badly wobbling Tommy Hearns out to be demolished by Iran Barkley with barely a nod. Double standard much?

Yeah, Richard Steele is a horrible ref, you're right. It just depends on the situation I guess.

Can't comment on a fight I haven't seen. But if you say there was "barely a nod", acknowledgment of a ref was given even if it was barely. In Taylors case there wasn't any.

According to Scott, Hearns even barely, acknowledged he could continue, Taylor didn't even barely do that.

We really went over this here extensively a few months ago and I said plenty. It's something that still gets me upset because it cost me a lot of money, and it was just plain wrong. My opinion is that Steele was a corrupt ref who was protecting Don King's fighter. I just don't feel like going toe to toe again with everyone who disagrees.

scott, i agree with you........and you know i rooted for chavez............why was steele even talking to taylor...........????......you know my argument..........why ask a fighter who has been 12 hard rounds any questions during a fight...and in the final round.......just rub the gloves and let them go........did anyone see the ref asking juan marquez on 3 occassions against pac in that first round any questions???????...........lol.........

this topic has been beaten into the ground. always has, always will. this is the case because there are a lot of people who feel strongly that the outcome of the fight was spoiled and incorrectly handled by a jackass ref.
