Both Darchinyan and Maldonaldo have ****ty defense. You said that Jorge Arce was tailor made for Mijares (which he might have been, but Arce was still very good and Arce was the heavy favorite), then what are Darchinyan and Maldonaldo?

They are both good fighters and great wins however he hasn't faced a slickster with as good as defense as Mijares. I can see Donaire doing pretty well against Montiel and he'd probably would win a couple rounds over Mijares, but I still think he loses.

    edit:
Mijares is known for his jab also.. Look at how Donaire respond very quickly when countering with his lefthook and righthook when his opponents are jabbing him.. Donaire is tall dude 5'6 same as Mijares.. And yeah Maldonado got knockdown from a counter left hook.. Donaire is a technical fighter who knows when to engage at the right time.. Montiel is understandable because he is a brawler and goes for the finishing touch quickly.. As I said style makes fight, Fighters like Arce and Montiel that are face first brawler will have a long night against Mijares or Donaire..

I just hope Donaire finish his promotional problem with Shaw and signs with Top Rank or Golden Boy so he can proceed to 115... Everyone at 112 is ducking him already...
    1. Mijares has better reflexies so he could react and defend better against Donaire's counter left hook (which is his best punch no doubt and that's how he would win rounds against Mijares).

    2. 112 fighters ducking him? LOL ok. Japan (the WBA and the WBC) doesn't recognize the IBF belt or the WBO for that matter. Hardly ducking when they have been doing this for years.

    3. Donaire needs to move to 115 asap.

You could say the same thing for Mijares, what powerful counter puncher with as much technical ability as Donaire has Mijares fought? Thats what makes the fight so interesting. Neither guy has fought a fighter that is as good as the other.

True, but I give the edge to Mijares because he has shown better defense then Donaire. He's faced better opposition to. That is unrealted though.

Donaire has raw talent. He makes what he does look easy. 112 is not a deep division anymore, he'd beat the likes of Sakata and Naito with ease that Flyweight seems pointless for him.

He needs to step to 115 to see how good he really is, i don't think he could beat Montiel just yet as he hasn't faced anybody that good (no matter how good you think Vic was).

That being said, Montiel/Mijares has to be next to determine who is the best Super Fly in the World. I say Mijares decision.

                    Thanks!

Also I'd pick Donaire over anyone at 112, but I think Naito could give him some problems just because how awkward he is. Speaking of Naito. That last decsion against Pong was a joke. He clearly won that fight.

I think Mijares would totally own Montiel if they fought. If the odds were even I would jump all over that.
