    Marciano vs Holifield

i wanted to match them up at a cruiserweight division, but decided to go with heavyweight, because it's more fun that way

holyfield was an old school heavyweight. by that i mean, coming from 175 pounds, then cruiserweight he was still a very light heavyweight by today standards, but he proved that size doesnt stop you from standing toe to toe with a giant like Bowe

rocky was also small, and much smaller man than evander. a pressure fighter, a slugger, a puncher. a street fighter with heart. never took no for an answer. threw punches non stop in every round. went 15 rounds only once. undefeated through entire career!

both were probably one of the most conditioned fighters in the history of boxing. We know about rocky's months of training and sacrificing at training camps away from the family. We know evander's work ethic and conditioning kept him succesful while moving up

both had extraordinary will to win, never backed down, never feared anyone, and both had granite chins. this is too good

    who would want it more?

holyfield had a change of opponents, and cooper came in as a replacement. i believe at that time, evander had 2 different changes of opponents, and his training was messed up because of styles.

anyway cooper did good work early, but slowed down later in the fight, and evander was basically tattooing him with uppercuts. very brutal punches, but cooper had a good chin.

I don't see Marciano matching well against modern bigger technical fighters, especially one that is as skillful and durable as Evander Holyfield. Anything that Marciano could do, Evander could do better and he would do it faster as well. Inside fighting, offensive ability, defense, equal stamina, equal chin better choice of punches. I see Evander wearing Marciano down.

Marciano was good against fighters that were naturally smaller than him such as Charles, Moore, Walcott ect. All past their primes and coming up from smaller divisions. People are forgetting that the majority of the key name guys that he fought in the 50/s early 60s era were actually his size. I like Marciano but damn, talk about a bad style match for him.

Holyfield by unanimous decision or late TKO.

This would be a great fight, I can't really decide on a clear winner.

evander is bigger, more skilled and yes a better pure boxer out of the two, but marciano was a relentless punching machine, i think evander would be skilled and mobile enough to out box marciano for a few rounds but i think he would struggle keeping rocky off him in the end and marciano would TKO him.

Maricano was naturally bigger than Holyfield. Marciano was a natural heavyweight who shed weight during training and naturally walked around over 200 lbs, Holyfield was a natural light heavy who added muscle mass as the years went on. Sigh...

At any rate, I believe Maricano's workrate would be too much for Holyfield. Especially at heavy, Holyfield had good but sometimes questionable stamina and had to take rounds off, especially against stronger men as he moved up in weight. Holyfield's inside counter punching wouldn't do him much good against Rocky either.

Walcott's strategy against Rocky wasn't all that different from Holyfield's against Tyson with his counter and hold approach. Unlike Tyson, Rocky could mix up his attacks, get to the body, stay active in the grapple, and keep the pressure on until he gradually broke Walcott down and became the first fighter since Louis to stop him. I love Holyfield and he was my favorite fighter growing up but I would favor Rocky by late stoppage.

Prime Holyfield had the right combination of speed, skill, and power to outbox Rocky. Doubtful he'd stop him, but he'd put enough hurt on him to get some respect and take a UD. Wonder if this would be a 12 or 15 Rd'er.
