Boxing is more than just rote technique. As seen in this fight, Sherk's sense of timing is not particularly good, and he can't handle punches coming with a degree of speed (jabs, counters). But you're correct that his reach is the main source of his problems.

it may not be what the casuall mma fan likes...but Sad to Say Bj Penn and Sean Sherk made Hatton and lazcanos boxing skills look sub par compared to there stand up battle...penns jab would of made emmanuel steward proud...if sean sherk did more bobbin and weaving and getting in close he could of did more damage...it was very technical boxing to be honest.

Hatton looks amatuerish compared to those guys he came in with his face and chin up and throwing and upper cut or leaping uppercuts and getting countered all night by a lazy check hook from lazcano.

Anyone who takes an ignorant troll like Domain serious should have his head examined.

The UFC tonight was good but some of you are blowing smoke out your ass.

Sherk vs Penn - A poor boxing match between a Wrestler and a BJJ artist, which ended in a semi controversial fashion with the ref not knowing wtf to do. Overall it was a decent fight, the ending was weak IMO opinion but **** happens.

Ortiz vs Mashida - First two rounds were brutal to watch, Lyoto was using his footwork and not engaging the robotic looking Ortiz who was throwing telegraphed strikes that were missing a few feet from target. The third round brought some nice drama but the fight was not so great.

Silva vs Jardine - This was awesome to see, Silva destroyed Jardine reminiscent of his great run as Pride Middleweight champion. A bit scary the way Keith was laying there with his eyes open in a frozen state.

It's one thing to be a fan of the both combat sports, but people get pissed off when in a boxing forum you have trolls like Domain using every chance he gets to spout bull****.

They're able to make such a good undercard because they don't pay their fighters ****. We'll see how much longer they can get away with that. I do admit that tonights show was much better than average.

the ufc will not be able to pull more cards like these in the future because there's competition now. Japan is answering with "dream" (replacement of pride fc)...and another org , "affliction" has the best card of 2008 featuring fighters such as Rizzo , Josh Barnett , Whitehead & even Fedor Emelianenko (to name a few)...and these orgs are paying better $$$$
