Im really torn on this one. On one hand he is the champ at two weights, has never been beat, and defended his title a record amount of times. That alone should put him in the top 25...but, then I ask myself "Who did he really beat?" and I look at the list of fighters named in the first post, I start to really debate this with myself. Not an easy call.Comment

im from wales right, and even people here are very proud of joe i dont know if i would have him my top 25 . i kno this might sound strange but personally i dont get excited when i here his fight is coming up soon like i would tyson , jones jr etc, these guys bring fear and explosivness there for i dont kno about top 25 , sorry , hopkins 4-5 years ago could be different stroy had he fought joe thenComment

No, I've seen quite a few. You shouldn't assume that just because I disagree with you I have less boxing knowledge or that I've not seen many of his fights, just as I don't assume that you've not seen much of Calzaghe. In my opinion de la Hoya and Mayweather would've beaten Tszyu. In my opinion, Calzaghe has achieved more and is the better fighter. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's hardly a radical opinion which could only come about through ignorance, is it?
I like Tszyu, he was an entertaining fighter and I agree that he beat some top guys, but I'm not someone who goes in for excuses. You can only judge fighters by what they do, not what they could've done. If Calzaghe hadn't messed up his hands, he'd be a different fighter who KO'd people more often and he wouldn't throw so many 'slap' style shots. But it is what it is, and I form my views based upon that.the guy dominated the division, he lost to phillips as a result of poor preperation which lead to weight drain which lead to burnout, he lost to hatton because he was plain old, and those low blows by hatton and the fact the referree basically let hatton hug and hit and use his forearms and elbows all night didnt help tszyus cause
I'm not adopting this argument just to suit my case; I've said in the past that when it comes to Tarver's loss to Hopkins, Jones' loss to Tarver and Johnson, Winky's loss to Hopkins, Hatton's loss to Mayweather and pretty much every other fight where the loser had claimed afterwards that weight, injury or bad preparation was the cause of their defeat that I don't accept the excuses offered.
The exception to that rule is age. The Tszyu who fought Hatton was nowhere near his prime, no disagreements there, but as I didn't mention the Hatton fight in my post it isn't really relevant.Comment
