I'm not calling anyone a nuthugger. I just don't understand how people say Floyd outboxes Kelly. Kelly is more active, throws more punches, has a better jab and has more power than most middleweights. The only one of these that doesn't stick with him against floyd is the jab, i think it would simply be a setup punch rather than a weapon in the fight. But he'd still be throwing many more punches than Floyd. Honestly, does anyone see Floyd out punching Kelly, he would be WAY too wary of Kelly's power. Does anyone see Floyd coming forward, and trading with Kelly? Kelly loves to see guys heading backward, cuz he knows how to play the role of predator as well as almost anyone in the game today, right up there with Cotto, I don't know of two guys who are better at stalking their pray. Cotto would give Floyd trouble, Kelly would just flat out beat the guy. Defense or not, Kelly's workrate makes it a sure thing that some punches are going to get through, especially when someone doesn't know how to take a forward step.

Kelly Pavlik vs Floyd Mayweather at 160

With all due respect, Kelly is no John Ruiz. You and I both know that Kelly is P4P lightyears above John Ruiz, without a doubt. You can't apply the RJJ-Ruiz fight to this scenario. Two very different fighters. Kelly will throw all day, Ruiz will hug all day.

i just cant see kellys "unbelievable handspeed" catching up with floyd... i really cant
i think the most effective punch for floyd could be the low ducking jab to the stomach and then back out
i mean, i wont sit here and tell you how floyd will crush kelly pavlik... only that thought of floyd mayweather possibly outboxing kelly.... is.... not completely out of the question... not to me at least.Last edited by THE REED; 05-05-2008, 11:40 PM.

Floyd walks around at 160, and he looks in damn good fighting shape even when he's walking around between fights . Trinidad fought RJJ at 170,and didn't look terrible. floyd, who is much more talented than Tito, no offense to him.could easily move around well at 160, if he wanted to defy the odds and step up.

1. The power of a blocked shot is going to hurt in Pavlik's case, he ****s hard, while Ruiz is known for NOT ****ing hard.
2. And here's the key... workrate. When 1-2s are coming at Floyd all night with that much power, he is going to be hard-pressed to find a lot of times that he can get his own **** in... like I said, a blocked shot will hurt from Pavlik on a guy as little as Mayweather.

and lemme also say the fact that alot of people think that Floyd could beat Pavlik is proof that people would watch this fight. It is POSSIBLE for Floyd to win, yes. I'd put him at a 3-1, 4-1 underdog, but I'd still pay the PPV to see this fight happen. I'm gonna make a poll and see who agrees.

the foot work... floyds anticipation of the "jab jab right hand" could very well play a key into floyds thikning ability.
I think what makes me actually THINK about this fight, than some people who just go "Kelly Pavlik, Duhhh" is the difference in "thinking ability" inside the ring between floyd and kelly.
