Guerrero's publicist Mario Serrano once said to me that he saw a complete shift in his confidence level and subsequent performances after traveling to Denmark to KO Abazi in his home country. It seemed that he was getting lost as a champion/contender during '06 but he has found himself as a fighter now.

The Honorio KO was very impressive considering that Honorio was supposed to be a sturdy test for Guerrero. He was dealing with his wife's illness and Honorio had beaten Steve Luevano a few fights back.

Guerrero starched him with one left.

If Guerrero is a walk in the park for Linares, then Linares must be the new Roy Jones.
Yeah I heard about that fight...pretty strange.

I missed the Abazi fight. I knew Abazi was riding a long win streak, but just thinking about it Guerrero must have been WAY too big for him.

I think Guerrero and Linares would be an incredible fight to watch. Both guys have power in both hands, both guys have good hand speed, both throw well in combination, both show good defense in spots. I think Guerrero is much physically stronger and he is a southpaw, which could give him an advantage. I don't know how Linares has fared against other lefties though. Could be the X-factor.

No way I can see Linares walking through Guerrero.

I think he'll be a very accomplished a popular fighter at his peak, but not an ATG. Probably not the best of his era or anything like that IMO

That is what would happen. Linares would walk through Guerrero. Guerrero would try and pressure Linares, that is not going to work. Guerrero would walk into well placed, well timed, powerful, fast combinations on the way forward.

I was not impressed at all with Guerrero's last fight against Litzau either. He looked very basic. Not the worst fighter, but putting him even close to the same level as Linares is borderline insane.

Really, what precludes Linares from greatness?

This all depends on who he fights and beats.

Way to counter overrating one guy by overrating another.

"If Guerrero is a walk in the park for Linares, then Linares must be the new Roy Jones."

Guerrero is a solid guy who obviously works very hard, but thats a little much. Linares' complete destruction of Oscar Larios is about as impressive as anything Guerrero has ever done. If Linares can beat Guerrero it would be one step out of many in proving hes the real deal.

And i think he would beat Guerrero to a pulp,Guerrero gets very disheartened when he is being outboxed, take a look at his fight with Orlando Salido, even if basic Salido was using a substance,he got frustrated,Linares victory over Larios is better then any Guerrero win

Interesting. Considering he could even walk through Chololo, a shot, desperate old fighter, I don't think it'd happen with Guerrero.

Linares would get hit more than he ever has before by the best opponent he has faced to date. A young, talented fighter with the weapons to hurt him. It would be no cake walk, and it's laughable that you imply he'd walk through Guerrero. Borderline insane actually.

It'll be interesting to see Linares against some of the divisions marquee fighters. I hope he fights some top ranked opponents soon.

Guerrero was considered to be a top talent when he was coming up. This hard working, solid overachiever image you fellas are carving out for him is about as misguided as anything in this thread.

Oscar Larios is well past his best. A solid name, but that's where it ends. I would like to see these guys fight. It's a clash of two young, talented, top ranked featherweights. Who knows, maybe it's a poor man's Morales/Barrera.
