He is not a one punch KO artist, more of an accumulation puncher. He wore down Oscar Larios with a steady diet of punishment, no one punch did him in. He does have an arsenal comparable to Juan Manuel Marquez's, but time will tell how much of that carries over to the next level.

I once saw Shane Mosley knock a guy out with a three-punch combo, left hook upstairs, a digging left hook to the body and as violent a left hook up top to finish his guy off. It must have been his 10th fight or so. We didn't see otherworldly combinations like that used against the best guys he has fought.

I would agree with that. Many of his flashy knockouts have come from pin-point accurate shots right on the button besides. Rumor has it that he's a big hitter, but I don't quite see that way myself. Better than average power but nothing especially devastating. I think a Marquez comparison is right on.

They should get him some fights on TV here in the US. I know he's fighting at the end of this month in Mexico, but after that he needs to be on some Showtime card or B.A.D would be perfect for him.

i for one am not comfortable with the pace GBP has taken in turning Linares into a star. I'm sure next year they will be working hard to get him in the spot light more. I've also heard that he's learning english to make the transition easier.

Good way to gauge a fighters punching potential is to look at their shoulders, the broader the shoulders the harder they hit.

                Tommy Hearns
                Gerald McClellan
                Julian Jackson
                Kermit Cintron

However, punch placement is just as if not more important than absolute power.

I can't recall too many fighters who could put a shot directly on the bullseye at high speed in transition quite like Linares.

I agree. He puts them together like nobody I have seen in recent memory. Shane Mosley was great, but even his combos where more 15 punches in a blink of an eye and something is going to land combos. Linares combos are like, every single punch is thrown because he sees and opening.
