    what a dumb thread
This is an old post, but it's notable for its absolute ******ity and ignorance.

Watch the damn fights and check the fight night weights: Floyd was outweighed by Mitchell, Judah, Hernandez, Juuko, Gerena and I'm sure many others by 4-5 pounds or more. JLC, Corrales, Gatti, Baldomir, ODLH, and N'Dou all outweighed him by more than 10 pounds in the ring. Oh...but Floyd never fought bigger fighters.

Jr. was/is the best boxing talent of our era - minus RJJ. The man is a boxing craftsman and is one of those, because of his personality, love to hate boxers. You CANNOT take away from what that man is and will always be - a ****ing beast in the divisions he roamed. I don't care what division you put him in, within reason, he is a clear and cut favorite to win/dominate. Floyd Mayweather Jr., given we all still love to debate him, is one of boxings elite talents that may go unparalleled for many years to come. The reason, so many of us, hate sometimes, is because his boxing genious leaves SO much to be desired. I, for one, don't blame him one bit. With his ego, why not go out on top and look back to those who hate and repeat that to them? I just think, sometimes, when us fans love a fighter so much or are taken back by something truly great, we feel they should keep entertaining us forever and if they don't, well, look at what happens. Floyd, as it stands, has really never had a bad fight - never been hurt - never lost, etc. etc. - - - What more do you look for out of boxing going into it? Let's not forget to mention he is ****** ****ing rich lol. I really think Floyd, had he stayed, would not have met his match from 130-154. Not even close IMO. Not until he reached MW, with considerable height, weight, power, etc., would he have even been tested IMO. Even at MW, I would still, inside, find it hard to bet against him. I think the man, personally, is a prick and a loud mouth who almost ASKS for **** to happen to him - but - make no mistake about it, 130-154 - - - bring who you want, Floyd will be walking away the winner.

P.S. I really don't like Jr. at all - I just call them how I see them.

I'm watching Mayweather-Corrales (yes I know it's at 130, not 135) and Floyd looks just absolutely fantastic. Seriously, he looks almost perfect. Great jab, excellent combinations, fantastic elusivity, he had it all.

Although he struggled with Castillo at 135, he did well in his other two fights. I wish he would have stayed down there and fought Casamayor, Freitas, Lazcano, etc.

There would be no talk about ducking whoever I don't think. I think Floyd has a right to not want to fight Cotto, probably because Cotto is a giant next to him, but Floyd really has put himself in that boat by entering into 147. If you are going to claim the lineal championship in a division, you are going to be expected to fight the best in that division.

135 didn't even really fall off when most of the good fighters previously mentioned left. We now have Nate Campbell, Juan Diaz, Julio Diaz, Kid Diamond, etc.

I don't know, what do you all think about this? How cool would it have been if Floyd had stayed at 130 until the Chavez fight (when he said he couldn't make that limit anymore), and then never have left 135?

He wasn't going to get De La Hoya or even Hatton kind of money staying at 135. That's all it was. Higher weight classes get higher purses.
