Ricky Hatton,-one dimensional hypocrite, who even lies about doing things for his fans by fighting in Mancheste. The reality was HBO didnt want the fight.(Thats another issue altogether-but you wont see this because you are too British to be reasonable and analytical)

Calzaghe-I looked at his record,if this was for a job application,I wouldnt even invite him for the interview. The quality of his opponents is pathetic
You don't hate british fighters, you like Haye and Witter, but hate Calzaghe and Hatton.

You hate Calzaghe because of his resume, but like Haye, who has an inferior resume to Joe's. (Hatton has a superior resume to Witter's as well, by the way.)

    Am I missing something here?

So to sum up this thread:

"Yes yes, we're so enlightened and we're better fans because we like over-rated boxers."

Zsolt Erdei? Nothing but an over-protected champ (did you see who his last opponent was) - this is where Hatton and Calzaghe were for ten years before fighting any decent opponents. In five years we aren't going to be saying "Erdei the brilliant linear champ is fighting 45 year old Tarver, a true legend." and when Erdei beats Tarver people will be like "Wow, he was the real deal all along" all because he beat a guy who was over the hill.

      THAT'S how I see the Hatton/Calzaghe situations.

Being as Hatton and Calzaghe are so overrated, it must be incredibly easy to become 1) The Ring JWW Champ and 2) The Ring SMW and LHW champ.

So easy in fact that you'd think one of the many vastly superior US fighters who are out there would have got hold of those titles years ago and kept them out of the overrated Brit's hands permanently wouldn't you?

I can't believe that hasn't happened. Out of interest, who do you rate above the overrated Hatton at JWW and overrated Calzaghe at SMW and LHW?

well your obvioulsy an idiot to compare Calzaghe & Hatton to
              Zsolt Erdei

Calzaghe was champ for 10 years and has beaten former Champs like Eubank ,Woodhall ,Ried ,Mitchell ,Brewer,Kessler ,Lacy ,Hopkins ,and he is a 2 weight World Champ

only a complete hater or an idiot would compare that to Zsolt Erdei resume

              Hatton ,Tszyu,Castillo ,Urango,Carlos Maussa,Collazo ,Vince Phillips,also a two weight World Champ

but like u say American fight fans do have a tendency to dismiss fighters they are not familiar with ,which can be viewed as ignorant or in a nice way misinformed

personally i think the emergence of MMA in the states has helped bridge the gap between Us fans and British /European fans ,maybe American fans appreciate European fighters better than they ever did before ,it is much more exciting now that Boxing is more of a global Sport these days

i must stress it is a small minority that show a total distain for European fighters
I am not from the US or from the UK. I have noticed bias towards European fighters and I am guilty of it myself at times. For instance so many built up Calzaghe vs. Kessler as some sort of super fight when in my opinion, due to politics in the game and behavior of many promoters over there, they both just seemed unproven to me. I refuse to attach a label of greatness to either one of them as they just have not done enough.

Hatton though has fought on the world stage. He has shown that he is a tough SOB to beat. Many will not admit it, but he gave Mayweather hell in there until he got frustrated. He simply fought a bad fight, but I still respect him as a fighter. I tip my hat to the guy for willing to actually seeing where he stands.

It is not always about winning. Boxing is about proving your worth on the world stage by fighting the best. Win or lose, you then gain my respect. Many European guys have refused to do so. Does that make me a hater? I don't think so at all. This is why Joe and Mikkel have a long way to go before I give them props. Nothing against them, but I am not going to praise them either.

So basically, only fights in America, against American opposition are enough to make you give a fighter props? This is exactly what I'm talking about in this thread.

Also, Calzaghe just beat Hopkins in vegas, is that not good enough for you, or was Hopkins, I'm guessing, too old?

im not saying Haye's record is better im saying if that if that guy feels Joe has ducked people u cant really get on his case because he is a Haye fan cause Haye is the undisputed World Champ after 22 fights & he is probably one of the most exciting fighters out there today ,he is more than likely the biggest Hitter ,thats the point is was trying to make

to trash Haye because he does not like Joe is not fair as Haye is only early in his career & is already proving himself after 22 fights

I'm going to ask it again:

                      1) Who is better than Hatton at JWW
                      2) Who is better than Calzaghe at SMW and LHW

                      AND...

                      3) What evidence can you give for your opinion.
