Check out this GIF too, Dan. Yeah, Haha.. That losing the footing - you know what that was. He got hurt by Quintana straight.. Thanks though, D.In the Quintana fight Cotto does get pushed back by a left, it looks like he loses his footing after missing a left hook right before the bell though. It was a little harder to tell with the Gomez fight becasue the camera was at a further distance. Good eyes though. What I do like about Cotto is his ability to recover after he gets stunned, even in the moments you mentioned, he comes right back after getting hit.
After watching a few Margarito fights I'm beginning to think this fight might not be as easy for Cotto as I once predicted. Can't wait!Comment

good question. at 40 cotto seemed much weaker in the chin dept, but at 47 i think he looks better, and his defense has been much better as well. i think it is a tough call, but i am gonna give cotto the benefit and say he will be ok. granted, any man is suceptible to getting hurt by a good shot.Comment

I'm with you 100% on this one, Addison. Couldn't of said it better myself.I don't want to shock anyone here, but my answer is no.
Cotto's chin is a big, big problem. People know that he was hurt by Mosley and Judah at 147 - but what they may not realize is that he was buckled and stunned by Carlos Quintana and Alfonso Gomez - yes, Alfonso Gomez!
Gomez caught him square a few times.. Once Cotto's arms flared out in a shocked reaction, another time his legs wobbled and his upper body tilted. It's like he has some sort of disorder or disease.
Cotto does not like to be hit. He is not good whatsoever at taking punches, and when Margarito fully exposes this reality people are going to be devastated. Me, all I will do is cooly and quietly sip a glass of lemonade when the time comes. There will be no surprises here. Just fond admiration for Miguel Cotto, and his ability to keep his secret for soo long - and his accomplishments so grand, despite his vulnerability.
Cotto's Boxing ability is pretty good and is mobility is also better than average - but not anywhere near where it would have to be stay out of Margarito's kill zone for 12 rounds. No where near.
Personally, I'm angry that Bob Arum and Top Rank are setting Cotto up like this. It's disgusting. They know what's going to happen.
Cotto and his team will tape both the right and the left like they did his left against Gomez for this one.. You won't be able to read "Cleto Reyes."Comment

I think you've been watching that gif for too long. I watched it at full speed quite a few times and it doesn't like much, Cotto continues to follow thru with the hook and comes back with a jab, then slips a lazy left by Gomez, maybe is slo-mo it looks dramatic, but I think you're putting too much stock into it.HaHA.. My boy is gonna love this. I've posted this before..

Now here's the Quintana fight. Notice Quintana doesn't even land a punch, Quintana misses with a right hook, and the last two punches are a right by Cotto followed by a left hook. Now watch Cotto feet after he throws and misses the hook.
There's no denying Cotto can be hurt by Margarito, anyone who say different is fooling themselves, it's a just a matter of if and when(that's what makes boxing so great). I'm not a nuthugger, and I wouldn't be surprised(or care) if Cotto does lose or gets KO'd, It's just not how I see the fight going. Guess we'll just have to wait till fight night to see how this all plays out.Comment

I have Cotto in a couple of small parlays. I wouldn't be shocked if he lost, but I think he'll win.
I'm a little surprised Cotto isn't getting more credit. Supposedly he's THE threat to Mayweather. I don't think he is, but I think he'll get by Margarito.Comment
