For anyone to say that Cotto has not done enough in his WW career to earn a shot at the Undisputed WW Champion is quite ****ing ridiculous.

Cotto doesn't need to chase Floyd...He can continue to fight the top Welterweights it will only make Floyd look bad.

If Williams wins the rematch against Carlos Quintana then Cotto should fight him after Margarito. (Because Floyd obviously wont fight Cotto) After he beats Williams then Floyd will have no choice but to fight Cotto because thats literally cleaning up the top 5 fighters after floyd and cotto. there wont be any excuses or anyone else to fight and cotto will only get more popular and better.

Cotto beat a gold medalist and Sugar Shane Mosely. He hasn't been spectatuar but hes only 27, I personally think Mayweather would beat him by two or three rounds.Cotto-Gomez deserved to have low ratings, and Cotto coming out not finishing him off in the third round was bad.

If quintana wins cotto doesn't need to fight him because he has already destroyed him but if Williams wins then Cotto should fight him since there is no one else to fight in the 147 division because most people know floyd wont because he just wants money.

Well that is precisely what he is doing by fighting Margarito, even if he has already been stripped of the belt. He is the true champion, even if he doesn't face some loser who is considered his mandatory by the IBF and gets stripped because of it.

He has also slaughtered Quintana... why in god's name would he rematch him? That fight was a brutal beatdown. The Mayweather-Hatton rematch makes more sense IMO, and that is saying a lot.

So I guess the question to you is, does he need to be the champion in spirit (which he clearly would be by beating Margarito, because he would hold wins over the stripped IBF champ and the current WBO champ, as well as being the WBA champ), or does he actually need to hold the paper belts over his shoulder after taking two useless fights (the winner of the vacant IBF title and a rematch with Quintana)?

Because Quintana is the Champion, if it would be so easy why not take that belt. Quicker than he did last time... Cotto Didnt Beat Quintana when Quintana was a champion. It is a world of difference fighting somebody when they are a Champion, rather then beating them when they are a contender..

You make it seem like Cotto needs to jump through hoops to get a shot at Floyd. Which is it? The financial aspect of you thinking that Hatton is a bigger draw then Cotto and that Cotto's PPV numbers are low OR him not being great??

You make it seem like Floyd is worlds above everybody and that there needs to be a 30 fighters Royal Rumble to determine a worthy challanger to Floyd's throne to fight him at BoxingMania or something.
