what are you on man? comparing clottey's style to floyd's style is ******. floyd has brittle hands, true, but his stamina against pressure fighters like margo is supposedly is off the chains boy. floyd does not get tired and his movement is too fluent for margo, true story. floyd is faster than clottey and more technically sound than clottey and has much better defense, he would not have to fight margo like clottey did. and he would wipe the floor with tony.Clottey did in that fight what Floyd would do if he fought Tony, he would probably get off the same way Clottey did but in the last third of the fight the pressure and body assualt would have taken its Toll and Floyd to would quit period.
THat is exactly what Clottey did he ****ing quit fighting, and it wasnt becuase his hand was broke, Clottey stated in a interview on the same telecast for his fight with Corrales saying that his hand did not break and it was nothing more than a bruise on his ****ing knuckle, yet Margaritos wrist was broke and his ankle was strained during that fight yet all you ****ing haters tend to leave that **** out when you bring up Clottey.Comment

This is what the **** I dont get from you twisted ass Floyd bandwagoners. First Margarito confronts Floyd telling him he wants to fight him, Floyd kisses his ass in public out of fear of being man handled by Tony saying that Tony will get his shot he is just trying to make the best business decisons. (There is Video to support this)
Then Floyd runs his mouth if it makes dollars it makes sense, well 8 Million dollars didnt make as much sense to Floyd being that at the time that would have been a career high pay day. Floyd begins to site who has he beat? who has he fought?
out of no where here comes someone none of you heard of Paul Williams, and suddently he is Tonys #1 challenger, However Tony was ready to dump the WBO title and fight Cotto for the WBA title and a recognized name on his resume to shut the fans up also this would be a huge Payday for Tony.
and Suddenly what do you all mother ****ers say? he is ducking Paul ****ing williams, So rather than to do what Floyd did to him, he showed the fans that he ducks nobody and he took the fight to prove that unlike Floyd he will fight them all.
lossing a close contest by a single point, suddenly you all feel you have ground to stand on again, this man has consistantly been dogged by the haters here you all said that he needed a bigger name first well he was offered Cotto last year and when he got it you all cried.
you said he was ducking his mandotory well Margarito at that time was Floyds mandotory according to Ring, but if you say that means nothing than Floyd is not the P4P champ you cant have it both ways.
to sum it all up, Floyd ducked the man PERIOD, Tony didnt duck his mandotory he took it like a man sure he lost but the man showed what a true champion is supposed to be about defending your title against the very best. Right now as it stands Ring has Cotto @ #1 and Margarito @ #2 meaning when Margarito wins he becomes Floyds mandotory, will Floyd Mayweather have the balls to take one ****ing mandotory in his career this is something I have never seen him do neither has his ****ing fans.Comment

You need to learn how to read son! you are way off on what I wrote, I said that the consistant pressure and body assault of Margarito would have the same results against Floyd as they did against Clottey nobody said that Clottey and Floyd have the same style.what are you on man? comparing clottey's style to floyd's style is ******. floyd has brittle hands, true, but his stamina against pressure fighters like margo is supposedly is off the chains boy. floyd does not get tired and his movement is too fluent for margo, true story. floyd is faster than clottey and more technically sound than clottey and has much better defense, he would not have to fight margo like clottey did. and he would wipe the floor with tony.
get ****ing real and pick up a book and learn how to read.Comment

well I for one have never been on record as anyone ducking him at all. I have always believed he was a high risk low reward champion who languished under cards while Arum and his team underpromoted himThe primary reason I am not willing to jump on Margarito's bandwagon as of yet is simple: Who really has he shown his abilities against?
People talk about how Margarito has been ducked, but do those same people know the specifics of the actual offers that have been made? I highly doubt it.
Margarito is no slouch, that is true. But when you have the kind of wide-open defense and lack of hand or foot speed, forgive me for being skeptical in the absence of an A-list fighter on his resume'. His best wins have been over Kermit Cintron. What he proved in the last fight is that yes, he can still beat Cintron. Outside of that, nothing new was really established.
Regardless of excuses or other explanations, a loss is a loss and underlines the presence of flaws. Whatever flaws exist were enough that they held Margarito back from beating 5 guys.
Top Rank has done a great job of promoting and publicizing Margarito. He is held in high esteem even without the existence of a big win. They find him guys who he runs over and it generates a wow factor.
What we still don't know is what happens when an elite fighter is put in front of him (i.e. Cotto, Mayweather) that has the tools to exploit Margarito's deficiencies. As highlight reel-worthy as beating Cintron was, Cintron is not Cotto or Mayweather.
In the absence of big fights to point at, what we get instead is talk. Talk oftentimes cannot be substantiated; it's gossip, hearsay etc. The talk I'm referring to are Margarito's camp's parade of names they allege have ducked Margarito. Lampley himself said during Margarito's walkout for the Paul Williams fight that the reputation of Margarito has been built largely on the fighters who have "ducked" Margarito and not the actual fighters he has beaten.
It can be said that the aura of Margarito stems from talk. Should he triumph over Cotto, what he will have proven is that his will and determination can overcome his glaring flaws. Until then, he is still unproven and flawed.
there were "offers" out there for Mosley and Mayweather but I think we do know that while Arum may talk a good game there is more to his words than meets the eye
you are dead wrong about promoting him. If anything prior to 2006 he had been severly neglected as far as Top Rank is concerned. Up until he lost to Williams he was the longest reigning champion in a hot division. Arum has long preferred Fernando Beltran managed Mexican fighters often giving them full promotional push. His biggest fight, the Williams fight, was largely promoted by Dan and not TR. Heck Bob and his henchmen didnt even show until fight night. Every presser every open workout even the weigh in they were nowhere to be found I was there at each. As long as he had to toil on crap local cards and such I think he has earned a little push from Arum now that he needs a Mexican warrior to fill the slots that Castillo and Morales left.
and remember it was Kermit who called Tony out first not vice versa. HE wanted the rematch HE went on air and said so HE pushed aside a fight with Williams citing injury then called Tony out.
you dont have to like Tony at all and yeah you can say that he is flawed he slow he is ordinary he is everything a lot of people dont look for in a fighter they choose as a favorite. But damn if he doesnt give each and every fighter in front of him hell despite all his deificiencies
Cotto may win but like Chico said once "I am willing to walk through hell with gasoline trunks on to win this fight".Comment

Every time somebody brings up the money for the Margarito fight I laugh. He ended up making more money w/ the Baldo fight than 8 million dollars.
I can't believe you actually think Margarito would've dumped the WBO belt. That's the only bargaining chips he ever had. He could be overrated all he wanted, but as long as he had a belt he still was worth something. If he got rid of it and lost then he'd never be heard from again.Comment

so what if he made $8 million to fight badlomir?? that just means he could have made $16 million if he fought both men. it doesnt change the fact that mayweather is living in fear of antonio margarito.Every time somebody brings up the money for the Margarito fight I laugh. He ended up making more money w/ the Baldo fight than 8 million dollars.
