I actually dislike Floyds unwillingness to make certain fights happen (Cotto especially), but even I can see that their respective talents are incomparable. A sharpshooter like Floyd would have a field way with Tony. Too mechanical, too sloppy (despite being incredibly strong), too susceptible to the right hand counter. Williams whipped him.

Clottey did in that fight what Floyd would do if he fought Tony, he would probably get off the same way Clottey did but in the last third of the fight the pressure and body assualt would have taken its Toll and Floyd to would quit period.
THat is exactly what Clottey did he ****ing quit fighting, and it wasnt becuase his hand was broke, Clottey stated in a interview on the same telecast for his fight with Corrales saying that his hand did not break and it was nothing more than a bruise on his ****ing knuckle, yet Margaritos wrist was broke and his ankle was strained during that fight yet all you ****ing haters tend to leave that **** out when you bring up Clottey.

I have nothing against the man, he is a good fighter. With that being said, why do people think hes "back" because he beat Johnson who is nobody then KO'd someone he already knocked out? Margarito vs. Cotto will be good but Margaritos body is a huge target. I look for Cotto to exploit that early & often.

The primary reason I am not willing to jump on Margarito's bandwagon as of yet is simple: Who really has he shown his abilities against?

People talk about how Margarito has been ducked, but do those same people know the specifics of the actual offers that have been made? I highly doubt it.

Margarito is no slouch, that is true. But when you have the kind of wide-open defense and lack of hand or foot speed, forgive me for being skeptical in the absence of an A-list fighter on his resume'. His best wins have been over Kermit Cintron. What he proved in the last fight is that yes, he can still beat Cintron. Outside of that, nothing new was really established.

Regardless of excuses or other explanations, a loss is a loss and underlines the presence of flaws. Whatever flaws exist were enough that they held Margarito back from beating 5 guys.

Top Rank has done a great job of promoting and publicizing Margarito. He is held in high esteem even without the existence of a big win. They find him guys who he runs over and it generates a wow factor.

What we still don't know is what happens when an elite fighter is put in front of him (i.e. Cotto, Mayweather) that has the tools to exploit Margarito's deficiencies. As highlight reel-worthy as beating Cintron was, Cintron is not Cotto or Mayweather.

In the absence of big fights to point at, what we get instead is talk. Talk oftentimes cannot be substantiated; it's gossip, hearsay etc. The talk I'm referring to are Margarito's camp's parade of names they allege have ducked Margarito. Lampley himself said during Margarito's walkout for the Paul Williams fight that the reputation of Margarito has been built largely on the fighters who have "ducked" Margarito and not the actual fighters he has beaten.

It can be said that the aura of Margarito stems from talk. Should he triumph over Cotto, what he will have proven is that his will and determination can overcome his glaring flaws. Until then, he is still unproven and flawed.

i dont know if you have hate in your heart for just margarito or for all mexicans but i always see you hating on this man. everytime there is a margarito fight you pick against him. you pick cintron to win and margarito knocks him out.

what you dont understand is that margarito is a bad ass in the same way pacquiao is a bad ass. this man only knows one way to fight and thats coming forward and going for the knockout. same as pacquiao. and even though these men are one dimensional nobody can stop them.

if your going to make topics hating on margarito you should do everyone a favor and educate yourself. there is a reason mayweather and wright turned down career high paydays to face this man and i know they know more about boxing than you.

yup good point. People will always have something to say about a fighter. Funny how sensation ignored the fact margarito UD clottey. what other top 5 ww has done that??? *waits for the ****** excuses to start flying in There is no such thing as a perfect fighter. No fighter is flawless, closest to that would be floyd. and no cotto is not number 2. Cotto has his share of weakness as well. Sensations claims margarito has no defense and gets hit too much but his positives out weigh his weekness by a long shot!!!!! So in reality his so called weakness' really have no effect on him. Cotto has alot of flaws and im dying to see how cotto is going to hand margarito's pressure after he spent alot of rounds in the mosley fight backing up holding and running. There is a gif of cotto getting wobbled by gomez lmfao! he's knees buckeling and legs getting shakey for a split second. Cant wait to see how he reacts to a margarito punch. Reality is every fighter has a weekness or a few. margarito's weekness doesnt even affect his fights his positives overcome all his negatives. Tell me a fight margarito loss because of his weekness??? and you mention his 5 losses but forget to mention 3 of came before the age of 19. and the other one was a fight stopped cause of a cut against a middle weight in which he was winning on one card and losing by 1pt on another. The williams fight was actually a blessing in desguise!! believe it or not. He has upped his pressure and is starting fights strong now. Margarito know kills pw in a rematch and i dont know how you can deny that. Im going to bookmark this page and bump after the fight. And If margarito wins you have to give him all the credit in the world because to you guys cotto is god but in reality cotto is just another good fighter with his own set of weakness'.

im not here to educate. he needs to educate himself. plain and basic common sense cannot be taught.
