And of course Margarito's biggest resume boost is that Floyd "MONEY" Mayweather turned down career high paydays against him, twice. Nuff said!
Damn, a guy gets in a few magazines and still gets the hate. Not everyone gets in The Ring before 21, but give me some time.

You'd pick Clottey to beat them? Good, so would I. He still isn't among the elite in the world.

Career high paydays at the time perhaps. Also, I doubt a Top Rank issued contract would offer as many incentives as another promoter would. Bob Arum's animosity for Mayweather is well-documented. Essentially, Arum has used Mayweather's name to elevate fighters he promotes.

WOW. So he destroys Kermit Cintron in 6 and you're critical of his performance? I didn't see that type of criticism for Pacquia after he went 12 with Barrera after he has massacred him once before.

I think you're being too critical of him because some are falling in love too much. Don't let the praise of others make you overly critical. That's when the whole nuthuggers and haters dichotomy actually exists because some guys love a fighter and their overhyping leads to others underappreciating. You refuse to give the man his due.

I didn't think Pacquiao looked good at all against Barrera in the rematch.

I agree, some are falling too much in love. I give him his due for what he has accomplished. I just won't say he is a great fighter until he beats other great fighters.

On this subject, the point that I was making is that if Margarito was to prove something new, beating Cintron easier than he had the first time would have been the way to go.

By not improving on the performance, like Rafael Marquez did by stopping Pastrana in an essentially meaningless rematch, he proved nothing new.

            Ryan,

I respect your opinion and the work you do. In fact, you're pretty good at writing too. But what I've noticed is that when journalists have a close relationship with boxers, they become biased, which is completely natural but wrong at the same time. Look at G. Leon, this guy has no objectivity. He's an extreme too.

I thought Tony beat him more convincingly the second time despite lasting one round longer. The first time he didn't hit him much, Kermit jus t broke down mentally. The second one he destroyed him physically.

Your logic is crazy... The proper way to post on these forums is to suck on the balls of anybody who won a fight recently, proclaim them to be the best in the world, and people are ducking them.

Next step is to start posting "facts" about why said fighter is good and then claim people don't have common sense if they disagree.

Critical thinking and an unwillingness to jump on a bandwagon will not be tolerated

Thank you for the kind words. We agree to disagree and I thank you for taking the time to engage me, really. I know what you're saying, but trust me, I don't know Margarito, Mayweather, Cotto, Cintron, Clottey or any of the top welterweights.

When people look at Cotto and Marg I think they see a similar amount of hype. As a result they see a similar product. The fact is.. Cotto has tested himself against more adverse situations And.. IMO he appears to be a more talented fighter. His hand speed is underrated.. Also, he's got power to go with that speed, and possibly most important of all is that he's strong mentally. For me, the story isn't that Margarito is "so so" it's simply that Mayweather is exceptional and Cotto is somewhere in the same ballpark. We have no reason at all to believe that Margarito deserves to be looked at on the same plane as these two guys.

I think Margo is a good fighter but a bit overrated. He have a good chin and great power thats it! I not hating or anything but he is a bit past his prime, he is like a Tall "Yori boy" campas. He probably
