"I'm a big Roy Jones fan and to be honest, he's the only guy in the world that I really don't want to fight. He seems to be the perfect fighter and you just can't hit the guy. Look at what Jones did to Richard Hall who then fights Dariuz Michaelczweski and bashes him up for 11 rounds. I like to watch Jones fight and see his moves. He carries an aura that he takes into the ring with him. It's 100 percent confidence and he knows he's going to win. You can tell that he doesn't take his talent for granted though because he obviously trains very hard and keeps in tremendous shape."

That is a quote from Calzaghe

This whole busines of Calzaghe chasing Roy for years and Roy not wanting any part of it is ludicrous.

Aside from Joe's own admission in 2003 that he never wanted any part of Roy (see quote), the only thing I remember about Joe and Warren mentioning Roy's name before his loss, was "calling him out" to come down to 168 and fight Joe in Wales.

No one legitimately calls out the p4p #1 fighter in the world by asking him to move down a weight division from the one where he is currently the undisputed champion to fight them in their own backyard.

If Calzaghe really wanted Roy, he would have moved up to 175 and offered to fight him in the States, like he did against Hopkins.

Also, barely anyone even took Calzaghe seriously until he beat Lacy, and not even really until he beat Kessler.

He hadn't done anything when Roy was p4p#1 to warrant the fight, especially on his terms.

If Warren and Calzaghe try to use the "we chased Roy for years" excuse to justify hard ball negotiating, then they go right back to zero credibility in my books.

No way in hell he would have beaten a prime Hopkins and forget about Roy.

                    roy and calzaghe

this is really the only fight for roy unless he want s to fight tarver again and Im sure he doesnt want that. Its also a winnable fight for roy hes looked pretty good in his last 2 fights but it needs to be this year. Its too bad calzaghe didnt fight these guys in their prime. But hey hes kinda doin like Lennox Lewis, waiting 10 years until the perfect time to start callin out old washed up champions.

Calzaghe does not beat a prime rjj or hopkins or even james toney for that matter but somehow he managed to stay out of the limelight long enough until they were all at the tail end of their careers
