What I like about Tarver is that he is considerably longer and bigger than Calzaghe. Tarver's jab isn't a snappy, Larry Holmes jab but a range finder. When Tarver is on his game, he is commanding his range and punching space. I wouldn't put it past Tarver because Calzaghe looked slower and sloppier than he has in previous fights. There seemed to be too much space between his punches, more than usual.

I think the best fight for Zaghe is Johnson, cause Johnson is still a beast and if Joe fights him, he's making a statement that he isn't going out the easy way, fighting big name fighters but rather fighters that can give you hell.

I don't want to see him against Dawson, cause Dawson crumbles under pressure, Tarver is kind of slow and not too active.

Fair enough, but you do remember how Tarver looked against Hopkins? He didn't win a single round and Buddy wa telling him to fight to survive.

I have no idea what you're trying to say about Chris Eubank or Nigel Benn here, and what dropping Eubank has to do with this.

I understand your thesis, which appears to be that Calzaghe is the best ever, using a first round knockdown of Chris Eubank by Calzaghe with only 21 fights as your supporting details. I just don't get what this has to do with the knockdown Hopkins scored on Calzaghe in round 1.
I ****ed up, there was a chunk of my post I deleted before I posted but I didn't realize.

You were saying Lacy had been in with no one when he fought JC. I was saying that's no excuse, as you know, Lacy was touted by almost everyone as being the guy who was gonna take Calzaghe to school. I was using the Eubank fight as an example of JC in comparison where he'd had about the same amount of pro fights as Lacy had.

I don't know about bets here, but my point is that Tarver presents a much more difficult test than does Jones.

                    I never disagreed with that.

To me, I don't hold the Lacy fight in the same light as I do the Kessler and Hopkins fight. Those fights proved a lot more than did the Lacy fight. I figured Lacy to be the favorite because Calzaghe looked stale in the Salem fight previous to Lacy. When Lacy began talking about the pressure he was under to score first round KOs, I knew he was being hyped up to be something he wasn't at that point. I was never on the Lacy bandwagon.
