Tarver can not land more than one punch at a time on Zaghe and unless he he closes his eyes and throws another left hook that lands right on the chin, he can't beat Zaghe in a boxing ring.
I'll tell you what, it was one punch that got Eric Harding in all sorts of trouble when they fought in 2002. Harding kept getting up, but he wasn't right after that first shot.

After that, he was fighting top-tier guys back-to-back. I don't care if you're Bob Foster, if you're fighting guys like Glen Johnson, Roy Jones and B-Hop, you're not going to be knocking those guys out with one punch consistently.

People have underrated Tarver, including myself, in recent years. He has failed to show up to some fights, particularly in the Hopkins fight. He has a lot of guile to his game and is very hard to hit clean. His defense is superb and he can set up traps for the left hand and uppercut better than alot of southpaws in history. On top of that, he's very durable.

Lol yes, it's obvious, with Calzaghe's amazing defense and the way he doesn't leave himself open to counters, Tarver has NO CHANCE at hitting Calzaghe multiple times. I mean he hit RJJ with plenty of flush combos, but we all know RJJ has WAY WORSE defense than Calzaghe, who puts Sweet Pea to shame.

I remember him hitting Montel Griffin behind the head early in the fight, giving him concussion and he still couldn't finish him off.

Tarver is difficult to fight cause he's skateboarding in a southpaw stance on a 6 3 frame, and he pulls back. I'll never pick Tarver to beat Calzaghe.

If Tarver can maintain his distance in the manner he did with Roy Jones, he can negate a lot of what Calzaghe does. If he can't, Tarver can't win on the inside. He won't get handled on the inside because Tarver can smother punches well, but he won't be able to fight his fight.

Not to be a hater but Tarver landed a lucky punch on Harding and a lucky punch on Roy Jones. Why was it lucky? Cause he fought Harding in the fight prior and he got beat pretty convincingly. He hasn't been landing that punch since the second Roy Jones fight.

After seeing that fight, I didn't think he could beat Jones. He coasted way too much and tried to set him up to walk into a knockout; you aren't going to get Griffin to open up much.

He didn't win the first fight and it was a replay of what Tarver did wrong in the Griffin fight. He did what he was supposed to do in the second fight when he made Jones lunge and leave a gap to create offense. If he can keep a strong jab and maintain his distance, then he can beat Calzaghe.

Calzaghe is way to quick for Tarver's lazy jab though, he'll be inside and outside of it all night long. I think Pavlik can put up a better fight than Tarver.

Against Jones he did what he was supposed to- he punched with Jones. That was a perfect punch.

Against Harding, he pulled the oldest counter-punching trick in book by drawing Harding in for a lights out counter left.

What's Tarver experience against left-handers anyway?
