I knew threads like this would appear after Joe's win...

Bernard Hopkins is a freak of nature; yes he was past his prime, but not that far past it. He was still a formidable opponent and although he tale of the tape shows age 43 it is safe to say he was in better shape than most boxers who are ten years his junior. People forget that Calzaghe isn't exactly in his prime and has lost power and hand-speed in recent years. So how about giving Joe some credit like he deserves or keep whinging like a toddler and we'll just ignore you.

Predictably lame thread. Bernards best wins came post the age 40, his strengths at this age were his main weapons against Joe, supreme defence, saving energy, ring intelligence, and counter punches.

It wasn't enough. Joe beats a younger Hops without these skills so high, much easier.

...Yep, and we knew it was coming right. Hopkins got out worked, out hussled, and just plain beaten. The same ones that are sayng Hopkins was old, are the ones that said that his team had him in tip top shape and age basically wouldn't be a factor. Lets not forget that Cal is no spring chicken either. IMO Joe beats Bernard at any time in their careers. He's just the better fighter and it's as simple as that.

          LOL. Good argument.

Hopkins didn't run out of gas. That's how he fights at least at this stage. He waits and counter punches. He did the same think against Winky Wright. Calzaghe adjusted to Hopkins straight right, continued to throw more punches and spoiled Hopkins ability to counterpunch. It was not the prettiest of wins, but Hopkins reflexes were definitely fast that night which eliminates this old age nonsense. He was not the better man last Saturday.

Hopkins couldn't maintain what he had going through the first half of the fight, a few years ago he could've and he would've coasted real easy. Calzaghe had no ****ing clue what to do when Hopkins was out of range, he just kept coming forward and missing, getting countered badly. Calzaghe did what he had to do, but I think the fight actually proved to a lot of people Joe wasn't who they thought he was, and a 43 year old veteran was still able to make him look like a rank amatuer until age caught up with him.
