I dont think Mayweather should or Needs to call out Cotto, It should be the other way round, Cotto should do the samething PBF did to get the oscar fight...Continuing Winning and when PBF dont have anymore options he would have to respond to a Simple call out from Cotto.

When the offer to fight Margarito was presented to Floyd, there was NOBODY else that was available for Floyd's ppv date. Floyd literally had no opponent. Margarito went as far as interupting Floyd's press conference, and told Floyd to his face "why wont u fight me". Floyd then went scrambling for an opponent. He asked Shane, but Shane had already stated that he will be taking the rest of the year off following his rematch with Vargas. He even went as far as trying to get Spinks in the ring, but that idea was shut down pretty quick. All this, yet Margarito and the $8mil were still on the table for Floyd. Floyd took a gamble on the Gatti/Baldomir fight, in hopes that Baldomir won. He did, and ended up being Floyd's opponent.

The point that im trying to make is, by Cotto just simply calling Floyd out, it isnt going to make Floyd put the pen to the paper. Margarito went to great lengths to get this fight, and Floyd avoided it like a plague.

Please dont mention about Margo's loss to Williams, because that happened AFTER the whole Floyd/Margarito issue.

People always bring up the fact that Hatton called Floyd out, but did he really? All he did was criticize Floyd's lack of excitement.

Not to mention Marg was the #1 ranked welter. as is Cotto NOW. Calling Floyd out doesnt make a difference.. The Big Show didnt call Floyd out, but he got his shot.

but how HUMBLING would it be if cotto wins these next few fights, without EVER calling floyd out, and the fight gets made and cotto is just as dismissive about floyd being at the dias as he has been with each past fighter who didn't play the part of the gentlemen, with shane and a few others as examples.

                  true, unabashed ownage. ouch.

.....He also brought a broader audience and larger payday. Margarito would not do those type of numbers. Mayweather knows that he must have an oppnent with a Huge following, aside himself to generate interest ofn a Huge magnitude. If it ain't about dollars then it doesn't make sense. Hatton was a "superstar" in his own right representing the U.K and Baldomir was the Recognized champion

I think Mayweather might be sitting back letting the Welterweights sort them selves out, he's going to let one guy collect all the belts then just fight him. It's like a Welterweight tournament to see who gets the mega fight with Floyd. Or he probably is ducking the top WW, only Floyd knows.
