Depending on who his opponent is it's sometimes better for a fighter to win a tough fight that's close and competitive than to win by blowout. If Joe C whomps Bernard we'll get the whole "he was old and shot" bull**** going. I don't think there's anybody that could beat Bernard easily anyway. If Joe C wins it probably will be close and a win over Hopkins is huge for him regardless of the circumstances. Same thing if you flip the script for B-Hop, except it will be "Joe C was overrated" instead of too old.
If B-Hop even gets CLOSE...:

I'm simply saying if B-hop shows up and is half decent, and Calzaghe has a tough time beating him, I think it will be a poor reflection of Calzaghe despite the victory. Because Hop is so old now, and b/c one would have to assume if the fight is close now with a 40+ Hop, then Hop would likely win if he were still in his prime. This fight will be a complete waste however, if Hop goes in there and actually fights like a senior citizen.Comment

If Hopkins does win, then obviously you could never try to compare the two again. If Calzaghe wins, you can still try to argue that a prime Hopkins would've won. So yes, in that respect, Calzaghe needs to win decisively.Comment

Thank you, I must admit I'll be a little shocked if Hop wins this.Comment

This thread is pathetic.
Whoever wins is the winner. There's no consolation for getting close.
If Hopkins wins, then he legitimates his career. Same for Joe. Everything is on the line and there can only be one winner.
Both guys are about equally past prime anyway.Comment

Too bad everything isn't as simple as this.. Btw Kayjay gives bad K when he doesn't like something. Gave it to me completely unprovoked. Everyone should remember how he handles himself.Comment

haha I give it occasionally. And green k when I like a post, as everyone knows.
That is the ideaComment
