Yeah well Hopkins is not like those guys.

And if you watch all of his interviews, he doesn't just simply say that he will win or not lose because he is ******.

He gives details about what he has done and what kind of fighter Joe Calzaghe is what he could do to him.

As far as Philly, I am sure Hops came from an area that was as tough as they come. He doesnt live where he lived , but he came from a hard scrabble spot I assume. For what its worth, I know his trainers sons told me one time that their neighborhood in Philly was so bad that, "once 6 o clock hit, even if u were playing baseball and the ball was in the air, you just left to go inside at 6. If the ball was in the air u just left it there LOL"

Damn boys got issues.

Talent and dedication gets you pretty far. Unfortunately, even very talented guys that beat the odds may get effed up by a very talented, priveledged guy with skills and natural gifts.

Life aint' fair and everyone loves the rags to riches stories, but unfortunately life doesn't work that way.

Hops isnt like those guys I have seen, I know..but some say Hops played to the situation to get out of the second Allen fight. Who really knows? I wouldnt put it past anybody to falter a bit when the chips are down, DESPITE what they may say when speaking in a room to someone. And for all u guys who dispute what Hops said...he most definitely DID say that he will win this fight because of the LIFE (not boxing) experiences he has overcome to date. If he wins this fight it wont be because he got stabbed many years ago. I have enough eperience to know that being a thug, getting shot and stabbed. being in prison, etc etc etc ETC ETC ETC means VERY LITTLE when crunch time comes in the boxing ring

He is street. Just going to the big house for 4 years makes him his street tough guy credibility what it is.

Of course he is not a Zab Judah dip**** thug. He is a thinker.....a street smart wise guy who has educated himself over the years. An experienced veteran of life and boxing.


Sidenote: Why would a black person like Hopkins risk going to jail doing what he did unless he needed the money because he was living in a ****ty situation. What just for the thrill of it???

I'm the only one in my childhood crew that did not end up in Graterford. Those other boys I ran with aren't a bunch of badass street thugs just because they got arrested.

And so I have no reason to acknowledge Hopkins's immense "street cred."
