SHEER NONSENSE. Like isaid to you before...Jermain Taylor is not a ******, gang or prison disciple...yet he beat Hops twice. So Hops EXPERIENCES in life that made him tough etc had ZERO bearing on the outcome. Boxing is BOXING... the art form, the skills, the style and the execution of a plan will overthrow toughness, anger, heart, viciousness almost every time
Jermaine Taylor grew up in a crime-ridden, gang-infested ****** of Little Rock.

Some guys just have a certain toughness in them, some have enough demons or hardships in their past that drives them or made them tough.

It just depends on the fighter. Jameel McCline is an ex-convict who was terrified by Wladimir Klitschko and was staggered by a feint.

B-Hop just says a lot of things, I wouldn't take all of them too seriously.

      • My question is why are people so worried about where Hopkins grew up at....Whats really the point of knowing all of this. Its not like its going to play a role in the fight.

            TRUTH.

I think what's made the thread so interesting, is that people have somewhat tried to make the argument that it would somehow play a role in how the fight would pan out.

That's exactly the point, Ray. Hopkins refers to his special ****** sense in EVERY interview, as if it gives him some kind of edge. Even if he were from a ****** it wouldn't matter.

But the fact is that he is from a nice neighborhood and only fabricated some history about coming from a ******, which is a bunch of silliness on his part (yet effective PR apparently).

                .
Yeah but look at his persona.

lol he went in for dealing guns, but you can tell he's the maybe slickster type. But he's not the hard core criminal type like Hopkins is.

Well if that the case... I see what you're getting at...I was just making sure I understood what was being discussed.

Even just today another quote was released in an article on this website: "I can sense fear in people because of where I'm from," all that as a justification of calling Calzaghe a 'whiteboy' to scare him.

There are many sides to this that are utter bull****, one being that Calzaghe as a Welshman is unlikely to be offended by an American racial expression.

But the other side that's bull****, is that where Hopkins is "from" is a plush neighborhood on the city border. The ****** image is a public relations stunt.
