Germantown is one of the more peaceful and affluent neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Bill Cosby is from there as well, as was Sun Ra. White collar workers outnumber blue collar workers by about 9/2. The median income is over $40,000/ year.

Crime rates are some of the lowest in the city.

I didn't grow up in the roughest "hood" either, but even I grew up in a tougher Philly neighborhood than Hopkins did, with higher crime rates and lower median income. So I can't help but laugh when he refers to his tough background: he's a middle class kid! Sure he went to prison, but anyone can do that.

He's built a false image on being "street." But it's not him. Sorry if you thought he would be too "street" for Calzaghe or anyone else, but you have the wrong guy.

Really, who gives a **** if he grew up in Germantown as you claim or where you live. I saw a documentary on Hopkins and they followed him in his neighborhood and spoke to people that knew him growing up. It didn't look like no middle class neighborhood . Besides who are you to accuse him of building a false image ? Just because you live in one 'hood' doesn't mean you don't hang in another. I grew up many kids that went to school in the suburbs but hung out in the hood in the summer while staying with aunts, uncles or grandparents. Guess where they ended up when they became adults? It's so funny how you get on the internet and blast people and post how fake they are and you really don't know **** about them.

SHEER NONSENSE. Like isaid to you before...Jermain Taylor is not a ******, gang or prison disciple...yet he beat Hops twice. So Hops EXPERIENCES in life that made him tough etc had ZERO bearing on the outcome. Boxing is BOXING... the art form, the skills, the style and the execution of a plan will overthrow toughness, anger, heart, viciousness almost every time
          watch the videos on boxingscene..

he doesnt say " im going to beat Joe cause im from the ****** and went to prison"...

            Not really.
Thank you for setting this jackass straight. He was beginning to sound like a little ***** crying over a paper cut!

I read what he said... and his explanation was that he would win because of his experiences. Here is EXACTLY what he said:

"Whatever Joe Calzaghe throws at me in the ring, it's nothing compared with what I've faced up to and managed to overcome in life. That's why there's only one ending to this story. You know it, I know it and, deep down, so does Joe Calzaghe."

And I am saying that what he overcame in LIFE didnt make him beat RJ or Taylor.
