Now I'm about 90-10 in favor of Floyd.

I personally, see virtually no possible way Oscar can win. It seems like a genuine waste of time, Floyd Sr. onboard or not.. Floyd caught Oscar cleanly dozens and dozens of times. Oscar caught Floyd cleanly about 3 times.

I watched this fight again looking for a reason to not think of the rematch as a joke. I'm now firmly convinced it is a complete ****ing sham.

I'd love to hear I'm wrong.. Does Oscar have a chance or what?
yes he can win the rematch even if he doesn't fight the better fight. what I've learned in the past year that I didn't even think of in the past years of watching boxing is, if a fighter is more active even though he is missing his punches and his opponent is landing more, he has a great chance of winning. ex: spinks-phillips. that is the conclusion I came to from thinking about alot of the bad decisions that judges have made in the past and thinking about why they made them. alot of judges are not as boxing knowledged as we think so the impression of the round is more important than how the round actually went. how is that significant in this case well...I think dlh wasn't using his jab cuz he was afraid of missing mayweather and looking bad, especially when they were in the middle of the ring. I think mayweather senior is gonna get dlh to use his jab more and perfect his timing unlike roaches strategy which was to wait for mayweather to get cornered and than start firing combos<--thats not a bad strategy but it should've included aggressive jabs in the middle of the ring which would've gotten floyd to think twice about throwing his own jabs and to get him cornered even quicker. even if the combos are useless like they were in the first fight, they still score points in the judges eyes. I don't think judges care to determine if those punches are landed flush or if they were barely landing or if they hurt or not. they just see a flury of punches and get the IMPRESSION of a good round.

Agreed. His only ****in chance is to thoroughly outwork Floyd and steal rounds on the sheer basis of activity. If he can do that for enough rounds without gettin tired or KO'd he could sneak away with a decision, but he's too old to do it. He tried it in the 1st fight and did ok while it lasted but he gassed out. Hell he used to get tired in fights 8 or 9 years ago primed at 147. He ain't gonna win this thing.

honestly, I know dlh is up there in age but, I have yet to see a sign of that in his last couple of fights. he ran a clinic on mayorga(which isn't easy just ask vernon forrest) and he didn't look old in the mayweather fight he just had a bad strategy. I didn't see him fade in that fight at all. I've watched it about 7-8 times now and all I could determine from it is that dlh had a game plan and it was semi working and he was really focused on it and didn't want to do anything else but corner him and fire combos. he did that to the bitter end, and I feel that if he had done 1 or 2 things differently, he would've came out of that fight the victor, as I stated in my last post.

IN FACT I FIND IT HILARIOUS THAT IN THE 2007 REVIEW, THEY PUT A FIVE PUNCH COMBO BY FLOYD IN WHICH THEY CHOOSE TO PUT THE PHRASE "MAYWEATHER BEGINS TO OPERATE LIKE A SURGEON"........AND OF THOSE 5 PUNCHES, HE LANDS ONE GLANCING-PARTIALLY BLOCKED SHOT....

HELL. IVE SEEN MAYWEATHER GET HIT BY AT LEAST 23 PUNCHES IN A ROUND BY CASTILLO IN THEIR SECOND FIGHT, AND COMPUBOX ONLY GAVE CASTILLO 9 CREDITS.....
HaHA.. OK, Hyp. Let's make disctinction here; I don't give a **** about Mayweather or De La Hoya. They can rot. Oscar is one of your very favorite fighters so the only person here looking at this with rose colored lenses is you, my friend. I just watched this fight. I had the same impression you did. Check it out, you need a refresher.

i had mayweather winning last time i saw that **** by the way...but it seriously shows the importance of STATUS in boxing...the way everyone gives mayweather extra credit for everything he does.....or how oscar de la hoya doesnt get the credit less known- more liked fighters/underdogs usuallly get...hell i had to look in horror how people gave for example-ngoudjo ****loads of credit and called malignaggi's decision over him controversial, and then think mayweather won 8-9 rounds vs oscar....

There were a whole bunch of hard, crisp, clean shots landed by Floyd.

Trust. But I encourage you to take another peek because I was surprised when I watched it again myself.

Actually, I'm feeling a little bad about denying that Floyd had the best defense in Boxing in the past. I would have to say that he clearly does at this point. Especially after what he did with Oscar and Ricky Hatton. They barely laid a glove on him.. Dude is for real. Oscar could do better, but like my man Tyson said; he was lookin real confused in there that night..
